why did you guys not just break there necks a much more humane way than beting it with a pole

i am sure a lot of you guys do this in the winter when out ferreting etc.. better to kil it quickly then have any animal suffer.

vet bills are a nightmare ive got 1 ferret its really my girlfriends but its a top class jill on rabbits or rats we lined her with a friend of mine with another class ferret she didnt drop i took her to a vet ended up having to go to a specialist in small animals and get her sectioned because the 1 ferret kit inside her was dead £120 it probably took him 5-10 minutes its a f****n joke, it was a good ferret and i didnt want to loss it so had to pay it or shoot it at the end of the day so i paid it.

That particular post vanished. Mainly because it's nothing to do with airguns but also because it treads a fine line in respecting the quarry. Basically, I feel that if you need to do anything more than once then you're not humanely dispatching. We should be striving to be the best we can. Sorry but belting it a few times with a metal pole ain't good enough. It works but so does strangulation and drowning and that's f*****g barbaric...

 

I know this thread is good natured but I won't allow anything that makes us look like monsters. We're not chatting in a pub, we're under scrutiny from our opponents and I won't allow any users of the air gun forum to give then any ammunition. I'm sure I'm not alone in this thought process.

No worries Mal. It's not aimed at you but was a general clarification for people that have come in and wondered if they posted here or not. It can be a bit confusing when you think you posted here but you can't find it.

 

However, like a pub, it's equally awkward when you walk in half way through a conversation!

Some idiot put a slug of lead through my sis-in-laws moggie a week or two back

The cat made it home and she screamed when she saw it flaked out on the rug, with its eye hanging out :sick:

She of course rushed it to the vet, he said he would operate or he could put it down.

She chose to go for the operation and the vet completely removed the eye.

 

Have a guess how much £800.00

 

The cat has recovered but is now reluctant to leave the house!

She had to clear out her ISA to pay for it.

Have to agree with you Chris, the rise in popularity of airguns has led to a rise of idiots owning and abusing them. However, those who flout the law will always do so.

That is true, Fidgety.

 

But we live in Britain. A place of crazy knee jerk politics.

 

If a licensing system was in place, with some sort of certificate of proficiency, I reckon it would legitimise airguns as firearms and we could do away with the power limit. This would also stop toy shops selling BB and airsoft weapons and make crimes out of what has been highlighted by Phantom.

 

Too many idiots are killing cats and songbirds. This makes us look like wankers. Anything we can do to raise the bar, so to speak, we should.

imagine being in a vets position though i doubt very much you'll complain about the prices then lol, but yes they are shockign few weeks ago my lurcher bitch cut her neck open took her to a vet as 1 the dog men by me who usually sorts my dogs out was on holiday due back 2 days later vet just told me keep the wound clean as nothing could be done about it kept it clean, cleaning it 2,3 times a day at the least with salt water 2 days later when my fathers mate come home he stapled her up 2 weeks time staples out and like new now its just a little patch of skin now waiting for the hair to grow back but these vets are rediculous these days nothing but rip off tw*ts and half of them only do a bodge job to get on with the next 1 and rip some other poor fecker off

Vets charge what the market can take. Like oil companies. As long as people are prepared to pay their extortionate fees then they will continue to charge them.

 

Unfortunately as the majority of the pet owning public think that this is fair and will do anything to save poor Tiddles (and I partly blame Rolf Harris for this) so vets capitalise on it. If people turned around and said 'No' then the prices would have to come down, but too many people treat Tiddles better than they would a dying relative. Basically it ain't going to get better.
