All the time and effort and fun had with the little buggers ..gone in one week........ There is no cure and as soon as the symptons shore they died withing 48 hrs......... smokey 0
Just a quick update , got home tonight and the others are not showing any symtoms as of yet ,thanks for the info people sent as its says not all can catch it......so there is hope......, one I took in lastnight is still being pumped with fluids and antibiotics. The problem we have now after speaking to the vet is find a laboritry that can test for ADV on post mortem or through a blood test. Regards Smokey Quote Link to post
sue 1
sorry to hear mate ,give everything a good wash down with domestos and rinse well Quote Link to post
murraywatt 0
nah mate dont wash nout, burn everything, even water bottles iv had that before its not nice, i wouldnt take the chance, burn hutches bin bowls and bottles and start again, one thing iv found thats quite good is to get some vircon S (high spectrum disinfectant) and when u clean out the cages give it the once over with some of that in a scooshy bottle and let it dry, its safe as i use it on my cages and it gets used on the drinkers for the partridges Quote Link to post
comanche 3,076
Spect you've done this but try to work out the source .Too late for you but it might help nip a local out-break in the bud. Hope your others pull through . Edited July 8, 2008 by comanche Quote Link to post
stubby 175
sorry to hear that mate, not something any of us would want, but Im a little confused the vet is 99% sure its this ADV, but you/the vet has to search for a lab to do a post mortem/blood test, surely this would be done by the vet, secondly, from following the link that got put up and reading it, it says, once adv is in the system, there is nothing that can be done, so why is the vet pumping fluids and antibiotics into it Quote Link to post
smokey 0
The reason we are pumping it full of fluids and antibiotics is for a couple of reasons 1. not 100% if thats what it has 2. we need to try and keep her going to get a blood test and also if it dies you only have so long before you can do a post mortem....I know it sounds cruel but if it does prove positive we can warn people...if it we dont get a result it will be hear say and nobody will bother............. All so the source could be anything from treading in Mink urine .....or from the dogs bringing it in......... I do feel bad about keeping her alive and yes I would have her put down as she is suffering......but....if this means I can warn people and tell them and give firm evidence people will listen..........if she ant got it ........I will be classed as a cruel b*****d.......
