Little Butch 16
Aslong as he's responsible and is supervised by you I dont see a problem You think he'll be able to hold the gun up and take the recoil? Butch Quote Link to post

snapper5 0
I only checked today with BASC to check the legality of any of the younger teenagers in our family using any of my FAC rifles under close supervision. They told me that not only does anybody who borrows any FAC firearm have to be seventeen or older but the lender of the rifle has to be the 'occupier' of the land on which it would be used. Apparently having the shooting rights or just 'permission to shoot' does not qualify you as the occupier. Unfortunately this 'occupier' rule means that I can't legally let anyone shoot my rifles unless I do so on my own land (which isn't really suitable) where I am the occupier. Are the rules different for shotgun use? S Quote Link to post
snapper5 0
To cloud this even further the BDS state on their website: an "occupier" is taken to be a person with "any right to hunt shoot or take game" on land other than the foreshore a written lease or permission is taken to give a "right" whereas a verbal agreement or invitation probably does not So which is it guys? sikastag_1 689
shotgun laws are slacker than firearms laws snapper, and if your son wants to shoot clays i would take him i started early on a 410 you will pick a 410 up cheap enuff mate that will suit him hardly any recoil etc. Quote Link to post
Fidgety 8
I seen some nice s/s 410's in my local gunshop, just wish i had a nipper so i could justify it to Err indoors! Quote Link to post
macberran 2
My eldest at 11 shoots at the local club with me. Has been for the last year. We regularly have the trap out at home go through the gun safety bit and all have a go,the other two are 7 1/2 and4 1/2. They use a 410 and 13" Rizzini 20. The 410 requiring far more accuracy of course but they still manage too put me too shame. The eldest has always done pigeons with me or helped beating and this is a rights off passge that he waited years too happen. Guns are light as are loads, good ear and eye protection are essential. I find his gun safety and awareness better than those who come too it older. You have a few clubs near you I believe, let him have a go the sooner the better. All our shooting sporrts need as much support a it can get from all ages too. This is a SGC not a FAC you can hold a cert in the right circumstances at any age. And hes putting in for his now. Malt 379
To cloud this even further the BDS state on their website: an "occupier" is taken to be a person with "any right to hunt shoot or take game" on land other than the foreshore a written lease or permission is taken to give a "right" whereas a verbal agreement or invitation probably does not So which is it guys? There was something on here not long ago, on that subject. I think someone can use your guns, as long as you have written permission, & you are with them. They can't borrow a gun & go out by themselves with it. Quote Link to post
mackem 27,843
My son started shooting a .38 at the age of 8 but he is quite a robust in stature,he has fired a lot of different weapons since then including an MP5 and a HK94 Quote Link to post
