DogPaddle 0
Howdy, Been out for a bit, but finally took a picture of a couple of my pike lures. These are what I normally use for pike depending on month and time of day and location, (what the pike are feeding on at the time, etc). The top rig is my trout rig for deep trolling. Just stick the head of the bait in the plastic cover and shove a toothpick through to hold it, shove the trebble into it's side and hook it to the downrigger. Quote Link to post
DogPaddle 0
Hey Irish Lurcher, Do you have these over there? Quote Link to post

DogPaddle 0
Well IR, I though that this thread was a great idea, but it seems that not too many others are interested. Are you going to post another picture so that we can guess? Here's another picture for those interested. Does anyone know what type of fish this is? Quote Link to post

DogPaddle 0
Wow! That's an amazing resemblance of a Zander, but sorry it is not. Hint: It was caught in Canadian waters, and is commonly known under two different names. Quote Link to post

DogPaddle 0
It is a Pikerel, or walleye. They do not grow very large and are normally not farmed, like the Zander. Funny thing, I was looking up the Zander and from the little that I read, there is a counterfeit fish operation that sells farmed zander as pickerel and it is $2/pound cheaper. There is even a dna testing group set up for just fish to counter the problem. Strange stuff. Quote Link to post

I can see why some here may think zander given the two fins and colours of the fish but the head is more trout like and if i caught that here i would think perch / zander hybrid or something!! both being predatory fish!! so dont know if that would ever be possible mind you Quote Link to post
