hawk eye 0
I'm looking at getting a cheapish 4x4 (for £2-3k) for a general run around and want something that will tackle muddy fields, step banks and the odd plouged field. first options are toyota hilux or a defender but the cherokee looks like a cheap option as you can pick these up for around the £1500 mark 1998, 2.5 petrol. whats your opinions? cheers
jacob 28
id go for the hilux if you can find one thats not rotten ,mechanically theyre fairly bulletproof.

dsr686 0
Don't bother with the jeep you spend more time repairing it than driving it (parts are dear too) Get a Hi Lux or Landy
bowers1986 3
Don't bother with the jeep you spend more time repairing it than driving it (parts are dear too) Get a Hi Lux or Landy Good Advice,,a lad who we went out coursing with a few year back had a 4ltr one,,think it was a 93/94 model automatic, perfect for cruising up and down motorways, bags of power but a little on the thirsty side, ,never really saw it off road so couldn't really comment on that side of it
Little Butch 16
Go for a Defender 90/110 or if you want a bit more comfort get a Discovery Absolutely brilliant offroad, Discovery's comfy and not too bad on diesel/Petrol unless you get a V8 Butch
Simoman 110
Jeeps are expensive to run. For £2/3 grand I'd go for a fourtrack.
dsr686 0
Muddy fields, steep banks and the odd ploughed field. Has to be a 90/110 nothing to beat them off road, you could go for a discovery but you must have decent off road tyres (same goes for any vechicle going off road). The Trooper is a great work horse with a few nice extras, but as always with any vehicle its a gamble if you get a good one or not. But over all i wpuld give the for the trooper for what you want. DDD 4
As already stated, Jeep are expensive on parts - top intercooler hose (which is dealer only part) = £180 give or take!!!!! Plus they give a very poor shooting position, especially if you shoot out the window.
