Paul in North Lincs 15
got me first lurcher, bitch 8 1/2 weeks just had her first injection mother is collie x whippet dad is grayhound she is hellish just want some tips on how when to train to hunt any tips thanks michael al try nd get some pics of her good on you mate........start with the training straight away...but more focussed towards play!............ Puppies brains are like sponges until they're 6 month she get the basics in now. getting pups to sit for a treat is easy...you should be able to teach this in 2-3....... soft toys and socks can be thrown and retieved .......... and recall is easy........ simple call the dog...when its comes..fuss it up...... then call the dog and whislte twice....... in no time the pup will come back to 2 whistles..... The basic principle is love and correction........ give praise when hes done good.........and a repremand when not..... and do not confuse this.....or the pup will become confused..............keep your commands consistent and you'll make great progress. People think its hard to train dogs.......it is not........ you only need 10 minutes a day................anymore and pup will soon turn deaf and not respond!...... everything in moderation.....dont rush..and don't over do it best of luck ;-> I would get a book on training a pup...the priciples are all the same. Guest silenthunter
start of with the basics mate with a tennis ball rolling it to the dog let the dog come back to you then the basic call techs getting him to cum to you getting him to sit and stay then [bANNED TEXT] he has mastered that get him retrieving a fur dummy getting the dog to sitt at your side through the dummy and getting the dog to retrieve then [bANNED TEXT] around 12 month take him out with another lurcher and let him watch the other dog chaseing then on the second outing let ur dog have a slip walk the dog upto as close as possible to the rabbit show the dog then let the dog see the rabbit run then slip the dog thats the basics mate happyhunting silenthunter...... best of look mate Quote Link to post
