scouser3038 1
storm is old enough to breed from and i want a pup out of him now as he has proven himself to do anythink and everythink i want him to and he could easily get seriously injured with the game he is running now and i would regret not having a pup from him if anythink happens. W.h If your happy that the dog has proved himself then theres nothing wrong with trying to get a pup out of him, its just some people say it takes a number of seasons for a dog to prove itself. Im sure you wouldnt have all the hassle of breeding a litter if you wasnt confident of the sire's ability!!! Quote Link to post

You might well be happy with your dog mate and it's great that you are but your not replicating him your dilluting him reducing the amount of collie which may be what makes him appeal to you. Personally I don't see the point in a 7/8 greyhound 1/8 collie but that's just me. Also, and I mean no offence by this, but I don't care what your dogs done but at seventeen months it may be showing promise but I don't think I'd be breeding off him just yet. Quote Link to post
tod 3
why dont you go and buy another pup of the peddler you bought storm off.am sure he has done a repeat mating or two since you got storm .this way your getting the same way bred as you have got and it saves you the messing of breeding the litter Quote Link to post
Guest world.hunters
just because he is bred the same way wouldnt meen he would turn out like storm. Quote Link to post

Guest wex
To take a litter out of a 17mth old "Youngster" is a little nieve(sp). Let the dog get a couple of seasons under its belt before you decide. Having seen the dog in the flesh i would agree that it runs well but i wouldn't call him the finished article by any stretch of the imagination. I have a 2yrold that has taken a broad spectrum of game and he has no chance of serving a bitch in the near future. Give him another season and then sort your pups, you are a young lad and you have bags of time. Quote Link to post
gaz 284
I have to admit W/H although the final desision is yours and your entitled to as you please with your own dogs i have to agree with what some of the lads are saying with giving storm a few years yet...at 18 months theres a lot to be done with storm yet before he's the finished article and a dog should be tested over a few years to justify being studed to as far as throwing workers is concerned...but hey what do i know because you could argue Storms sire wouldnt have been tested as im sure Hancock doesnt do too much with his dogs now. Im not knocking you and your plans bud and im also not knocking your dog either as you know i thought he was going to be a belter a while ago and told you if brought on right he would catch plenty of game for you,ive also enjoyed how Storm had prob made some of the hancock bashers think again with their expert opinion of the guys dogs LOL but i wouldnt get carried away with one decent season catching a bit of game with him, anyway best of luck to yourself and storm what ever path you take with him Quote Link to post
Guest world.hunters
cheers lads and i appriciate your views but i have had storm working alot this season and he has exceeded my expectations. its not like next season he will forget everythink he has learnt this season and he has been worked often upto now aswell on permission where they want all types of quarry killing, i dont want to wait and then regret it if he had a serious accident and i couldnt get a pup from him. even a small race at a show at the welsh almost turned into a fatality when he got bang into a car at full speed.
