on-point 0
mate, if somebody who has the authority to do so says that you are allowed to come to shoot deer on a piece of land you may do so. you only need the permission of the owner/holder of the stalking rights although it is more than wise to let everyone associated with the land know where and when you'll be. with regards to size, its more the way you use it i find. obviously if the bt of wood is the size of a ford ka, then you are not going to have much success, but it depends more on the deer stock in the area. that wasn't a very helpful reply but i hope its of some use on-point Quote Link to post

champion 0
do you not need to do DSC 1 &2 ??? if its not compulsery does it no help ?? The dsc1/2 at present are not compulsory to gain a fire arms cert but it depends on the police force you are with .If you are a coplete novice and in no clubs even with land you might be asked to take a course. My advice is to join basc or the bds who have legal teams who can help when applying I Have always found the police helpfull but sometimes you have to explain things to them example just this year I purchased a full bore sound moderator for my .204 the police contacted me because the person I baught it off had it on a .223 , I was told I did not have a liecence for a .223 moderator, I explained it was a full bore mod and it fitted certain calibers and they where fine. The young lady on the phone thanked me for explaining and that she would know now , not worth getting angry about it maybe if she has that position she should have known , I hope this helps Having been inthe game for more than 40 years If you dont know someone who shoots it is hard to get into without joining a club and even when your in there are lots of pitfalls . A good shooting friend can be a friend for life , Quote Link to post

Cernunnos 0
Hi doyler, In my expierience it's not a question of the amount of land, more the amount of deer on the land you have available. I have got my hunting licience issued with less than acres but the number of deer ment that there was a considerable problem. Once you apply for your hunting licience the local NPWS ranger should vet the area you have stated your intention to hunt on, in your application. Once they confirm the presence of deer in a sufficant number as to cause problems you are away. A figure that I have heard often mention is 100 acres, you can get several landowners in an area to give you permission, thus increasing your overall amount of land but no actual figure has ever been set as a minimum by the NPWS anyway. Hope this helps, Cernunnos. Quote Link to post
