Simoman 110
I'm thinking of buying a road legal quad (secondhand) but would like some advice on a few questions. 1. Can I ride it on my driving license? 2. Any models to look out for, ideally I need something that can do at least 55/60mph 3. Are the majority good on fuel? 4. How much for tax? 5. Can I take passengers? Any other advice would be greatly received.

wink hound 0
you can drive them on a car licesnse on the road, you dont need a helmet either. you cannot unless designed for 2 pepople carry passagers tho. you really should do a lantra type training course to get insured, any insureance would be vioded by a)not waering a helmet carrying a passenger. most are good on fuel depending on how they are driven. tax can be free under agricultrual but this has limits as to how far you can travel from home etc. the only quads worth bothering with are hondas (many will argue but i have tested most makes to there limits , ask banatm cock, mouse etc ) the 500 hydrostatic is the best model althoggh the normal 500 footshift is a very capable machine. the only other bike ive ever liked is the yamaha 700 with pas. very capable machine, but too powerful unless you really know what your doing, 75 mph feels fast and it isnt as robust or stable as a honda. avioded any quadzilla/ artic cat/ suzuki/massey type shite, i can assure you its not worth bothering with. cheers wink

We have just got a Quadzilla as well but it is new and under warranty etc (up to us how we treat it) The Honda will be the best buy secondhand. Only 1 problem the new Quadzilla was the same price as a 6 year old Honda. Upto you really.

Check out the honda 650 rincon, its an excellent bike,i use mine on off road for terrierwork. you can switch them in and out off 4wd theres alway two up on mine with all tools a box on front with 3 terriers in will go anywhere. You can drive on rd with car licence, not worked out excact mpg but a tenner will take you some miles, tax is free agri". hope that helps, heard honda have now brought out a 700,that must be some machine..
