Simoman 110
I feel very uncultured, I've never listened to a Pink Floyd song before
Guest Ditch_Shitter
I have met Roger Waters Yoooooooo b*****d!!! Envious? Me?! No; I always turn f*cking Green around this time of night! " Met " him? You so much as Dare to suggest ye shared a drink with him and I'll hunt ye down and give ye Such a f*ckin look! Oh, come on then: What was he like??? Dark Side ....? I genuinely don't even own a copy now. Had it, obviously. But then shit happened and I've simply never thought to buy it again since. Sorry but, I think it's rather marred - for me - by being the original 'Plastic Vinyl'. I mean; People, to this day, bang on about having That one. Ask them what else they have and it's ..... Bit like Fleetwood Mac's " Rumours " ; Was it the band or the hype for The One album? Anyway, yeppers, " Wish Ye Were Here " ? Playing right now. Has been for a couple of months or so now. Moment I switch on to the moment I switch off. Day and night. I find it's just one of those albums one can have on, 'in the background' and never grow tired of or not be in the mood for. In a word? F*cking Brilliant! Oh. That was Two words. Here's a few more: " The Final Cut ". Thatcher influenced Waters at his absolute pinnacle, IMHO. Free packet of razor blades inside the outer sleeve of every copy sold

Guest Ditch_Shitter
"The pros and cons of hitchhiking" today, fecking classic. " Arabs with knives at the foot of the bed!!! " Oh, f*ck. Here we go again! The jack boots will stomp in here and This one'll go out the window next! " I'm sorry. Would ye like some more coffee ....? ". Hey, Wex! Let's not forget The Wall !!! Album and the film! That " Bring The Boys Back Home! " sequence gives me a hard on whilst turning the rest of me to quivering, wet eyed jelly to this day! Is that scalp tingling shit or what?! And also, to this very day ~ last time being this morning, in fact ~ I just Love prefacing what I say to my tiny, skinny, long, thin legged terrier with; " Yooo little Shhyit! ". Usually because she really Has just " Done it now! " Remember, people; They're Waiting ....!
Gav 1,708
Floyd TOSH . The pink floyd was when Syd Barret formed them (without gilmore, he was a stand in later) once the inspiration of their main song writer Syd had a funny turn it was all down hill apart from wish you were here, which was written for/about Syd. Sorry to shit on your strawberries folks but get some proper floyd : piper at the gates etc etc theres lots to be had before they went commercial on us. FOOT NOTE : I do own most floyd albums though past and present ... hypercritical I know
Guest Ditch_Shitter
That's a bit harsh, Gav! Indeed; If ye had the true Conviction of that stand point; Why would ye not have cried, " TOSH! " the moment Syd was certified incurable and / or Gilmour was signed up? The phenomenon popularly known as " Pink Floyd " were / are great. Surely we can all pretty much agree on that? But Most - if not just about All 'Great' bands are organic, are they not? From 'Glen Miller' to ..... well ... 'Pink Floyd'? I'm also personally Big Time into a drop of Jethro Tull and The Boss. Ian and Bruce too have changed their 'Bands' down the years. Ok, they do have the advantage of being the lynch pins, as individual performers. But what were 'Floyd to do, when Syd wouldn't stop dribbling and howling? Fold and re emerge as " Orange Leroy " ? Don't (Can't) ye just accept that Syd had genius. That like attracts like and so he got together with Roger. Then Dave was co opted in. Syd went down ~ Shame! ~ but we had Roger and Dave to keep bringing us what we Love. " See Emily Play " was breath taking. We have Syd to fondly remember for that. "Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving with a Pict" was absolutely out on it's own. As was so much of the Roger Waters material which followed - and largely kept us all going, for years - afterwards. Now we have stuff like " Learning To Fly ". Gilmour and Mason bringing a whole new level of " Pink Floyd " to us. Now, I see where ye coming from. And I sympathise. But; Whilst I was always a bigger Waters devotee than anything. And I even started referring to the 'Post Waters' Floyd as " The Dave Gilmour Band ". Can we Really cry " Tosh! " at what we have to this day? And all that we've been given, down the decades, by that phenomenon " Pink Floyd " ? Were they not always classified as " Progressive Rock, after all?

And all that we've been given, down the decades, by that phenomenon " Pink Floyd " ? Were they not always classified as " Progressive Rock, after all? I think your right actually TOSH is a bit harsh, it should maybe be a bit more of a TSSSSK There is no doubt that The Pink Floyd have their own right in the music business and they are very successful, the only thing really that bugs me is they went commercial and dismiss the fact that it is mostly drug induced noise. Looking back over the decades of their music, the start was mesmerizing the middle mediocre and the end just commercial drivel. Like I say though we have most Floyd albums in our collection and the occasional one does get played; pigs on a wing-animals; grandchester meadows-ummagumma. To put it plainly I am a Hawkwind freak and to say they have been going about for the same time as The Pink Floyd they really don't get half as much recognition even though I personally think they are far superior. Think what you will, at the end of the day I am just an ole acid heed
Guest Ditch_Shitter
" Grantchester Meadows "! F*ck me! The evenings I spent with That one on the ear buns! That bloody goose taking off in one ear and flying, through my head, to the other one! But that too was pure Waters; as was " Pigs On The Wing " And what would ye consider that? " Mediocre " ? I can only reiterate that we can't live our musical tastes in a vacuum. Do ye honestly think Syd would have wished us to? If he hadn't himself of appreciated what Waters had to offer, would he have brought him in? Slipping back to Tull, for an external example; Typical Tull concert ..... Play " Aqualung " and the f*cking roof would come down! It's like That's all everybody had come there for! But, as Anderson himself said to Whispering Bob; " 'Aqualung' was bloody Years ago! We have to move on! There's been some resounding stuff since then; Like 'Budapest' ..." (Aqua: '71. Buda: '87) Granted; Whilst I have " Momentary Lapse " right here in my arms reach rack, I only really play it once in a blue moon. And even then I only 'listen to' those tracks I really like. That, I could agree, is the 'commercialised' face of Floyd. But to suggest, what? 'Everything from " Umma Gumma " to " The Final Cut " ' is " mediocre "????? Thank f*ck I've never had a taste for Brandy! (Well; Unless it comes from a Looking Glass! )
