Mr_Logic 5 Posted July 3, 2008 Report Share Posted July 3, 2008 Hi folks, just a quick one I came across a Savage 16FSS in their catalogue, looks pretty good and like it would fit the bill for me - screwcut 1/2UNF, lightweight, synthetic/stainless and 22" barrel. Rang Garlands and the RRP is £720 which seems steep. Are these any good? Does anyone have one? How does it fare against a Tikka T3, for example? Cheers muchly Quote Link to post

Is a cracking rifle. heavy fluted varmint barrel, choate ultimate stock, accu- trigger all stainless. And heres the best bit 1/4'' groups at 100yrds with ease. Cheers i was close to buying that rifle off skanny but my heart was set on the winchester in the end. you have a bargain there as ive heard of loads of people about how accurate that rifle is and the best thing is it shoots the cheap privi ammo at 1/4 inch groups which is allways nice as its only 7 to 9 pound a box my winchester shoots it well to how long did it take you to get to devon mate ? i would have gone on boat from wales across to devon it would have been quicker mr logic you have a look on reviews on the savage rifles they have come out on top in all the tests ive seen for accuracy on the net !! what caliber where you looking at ? For me I don't think there's any such thing really, I want something that shoots straight with the ammo I use and is light to carry around. Tikka does that but they fart about with metric threads for the moderator, and the lite is so light in the back that you need the short barrel to get the balance right... Quote Link to post

Deker 3,478 Posted July 4, 2008 Report Share Posted July 4, 2008 Probably no help at all...their Rimfire tools are cheap and cheerful (agricultural) is a phrase I have heard to describe them....Miles was after one in .17HMR and when we went to see it he soon changed his mind....centrefires...not a clue...but you seem to turn up with the slightly unusual sometimes and so far they have been winners!!!
