Well ive been getting out and about by myself round the wansbeck area after them Brown trout, and was just wondering if anyone uses or has used wasp grub/cake.

ive used it for years with excellent results, but there doesnt seem to many hives around. Has anybody been finding the same problem, also what do you think of them grubs?

Ive only ever used it on Brownies, but what a bait used along with a small float it doesnt even have time to settle and BOOM. Am off out today to look for some flightpaths :tongue2: .

PS do you lads use poison, as ive found its easier and a whole lot quicker to get in and turn the ball, leave it a bit, once the queen goes then so do the rest, then straight back in a bag and home. Do you heat it a bit in an oven as well? Smells lovely, but wouldnt like to eat it.

A bloke i know(who has done it this way for just over 40 years) will do it then im gonna have a go :o he just goes in calmly behind the hole, digs about 1 - 2 foot behind and quickly turns the ball, then he runs like f**k once the queen goes then so do the rest, go back a while later scoop the prize up into a hessian sack or ruck sack, the off he goes. I know lads who use poison, and even symag when it was legal, but say it makes the grub less effective.

I went out all over yesterday, but it was dull and a bit cooler than today, so saw nowt, but have some info on where there are 3, so im out again a bit later on when it cools down. :tongue2: .
