Tim. 0
Hi all, I am after a bit of advice regarding the Lanber Field Deluxe I am thinking of buying. I have been around the gun shops for a few days now and all I can say is that choice is very limited in my price range (sub £300). One of the nicest guns I found was a Lanber Field Deluxe 28" O/U M/C. They dealer wanted £350 for it but I managed to beat him down to 300 plus a load of extras in, and I am tempted in going for it. Lanber seem to have a good reputation for simple guns. I dont want anything fancy, just a solid gun that will perform reasonably well in the field and in the trap also. I am not sure on the age of the gun yet, I am just waiting to give the dealers a call to ask them a few more questions about it. Any views or opinions would be greatly appreciated. Quote Link to post
Geoff.C 0
I have used a Lanber sporter for years. The Field model will be mechanically similar I would think. Perhaps a little lighter, narrower top rib and auto safety probably. They are a good reliable gun, and will stand years of hard work. They do go wrong sometimes, firing pins break, barrel selector falls out. That sort of thing is easily and cheaply repaired by any gun smith. Would I have another? Yes, but if buying new, then in the same price range you could find a used Beretta which would probably be a better buy. Quote Link to post
Tim. 0
Geoff, Thank you for your reply, it gave me the push I needed to go with my instincts and buy it, and I am very impressed with the way it feels. Will go for a walk about the farm this evening and put a through shells through it . I would say it is a bit short for me at the moment, but I have been used to shooting something a bit short for a few years now, though I shoot better with the stock longer. I have bought a 2" slip on butt extension just to see how it feels before getting one done properly. If I had new money I would certainly go with a s/h beretta. My friend as i happens is about to buy a beretta for £250 but it is too small for me and has fixed chokes. Lovely piece of craftsmanship, 31 years old but you couldn't tell! Anyway thanks again Quote Link to post
Aled 506
I bought a Lanber for the same price, i've bought it as a "next step" gun after my old Baikel personally i'm pleased with it. Cheers Aled Quote Link to post
