Gav 1,708
Myself and the wife went for a walk around my permission yesterday afternoon, we took the dogs and the toddler so didn't take my rifle as it was Sunday as well, more for just a reccy really, see what was going on. I don't actually know the acreage, its 60-70 feet across and a good mile (if not more) long. After last year I just left it, as the rabbit population on it really took a dive, so not wanting to wipe them out completely it was decided to let them repopulate. About ¾ of the way down is a bit of a ruined wall where I can get some good cover (you can't see it in the pictures as I was stood at it), I was looking for droppings and fresh burrows but didn't see any, we did however see a single rabbit scurry into the adjoining croft. Now its not the thing to go trampling across other peoples crofts so I just left it at that. So it appears the bunnies are still there and I want to go shoot a few, my problem now been the rabbits seem to be making their homes in the crofts adjoining my permission and not where I want them. I have never tried this but have had the idea that I could go down every couple of days and scatter various food about for them in the hope that they will soon get the routine of coming for easy food and then I can get a few of the buggers again. Do you think that because I nearly decimated them early last year, they have just moved from the danger zone and will it work trying to entice them back with an easy meal? The permission right up to the houses. And the other side down to the sea. Any suggestions appreciated thanks. Quote Link to post

As for gettingn the rabbits to shift Im not so sure. Quite hard to make an animal change tis territory (then again you did it once!) I would suggest asking a few of the really experienced gunners on here see if they have encountered anything like this...How about seeking permission from the peice of land they have moved onto? Who knows they may be glad of you to get rid of them, and as a incentive you can say they are practically non existent on the other peice of permission now! Goodluck! Jack Quote Link to post

Jack The crofters here are very funny about giving permission, unless you know them very well its impossible for them to give any thing here. The only reason I got permission there is he is a very good friend and years old and I help him out with various things. Strange how the pictures don't load for you. Here are direct links hope these work. http://gavinmanby.co.uk/hlpics/1.jpg http://gavinmanby.co.uk/hlpics/2.jpg It did just happen to me too, I hit F5 to refresh the page and they loaded ok then. Thanks for the suggestions though Quote Link to post
