Simoman 110
If you can't get anyone local to help book the dog in at a groomers and watch, its easy enough to pick up and then you can do it yourself next year. Quote Link to post
Guest SJM
If the dog has never been done before, the best way to do it is in stages. Start with the easiest part which is along the spine down to the tail, this fur usually comes away easily when you pluck at it. If the dog isnt too bothered by this, then continue around the neck and chest area and sides until all thats left is the legs, underside of the belly, tail and face. These are the areas some dogs dont relish having done, so you might want to do them a day or so later if the dog is getting narky. Keeping the head up either by securing the dog to something, or having someone else hold it, pluck the underbelly from the chest right through to between the back legs. Then do around the arse area and underside of the tail (this is usually a bit they will protest at ) then all that remains is to tidy up any wisps here and there and decide how you want the facial furnishings to look. You can take the whole lot off (taking care around the eyebrows and whiskers so as not to pull the long "feeler" hairs out) or you can pluck out everything rear of the eyeline, leaving a small beard on the dogs nose and chin, this is how I do it, I tend to leave the backs of the legs and the beard on as I like the scruffy "schnauzery" look Edited June 28, 2008 by SJM Quote Link to post
