Look ...first off.... ask why you want the tactical...what does it offer you want over any of the other lightning models...it's a 12ft lb (nearly) lump!!!

If you have the skills/engineering equipment to cut a thread then by all means do it and spend money on another mod. Many 12ft lb air rifle mods are no more than toys and do very little, there is only so much you can do with a 12ft lb gun anyway, it is hardly ear splitting to start with!

Oooooooh! Light the blue touch paper and stand well back! :D

I would certainly dispute that they're just toys... they're responsible for numerous pest control duties and I've racked up more results, with the 12 ft/lbs air rifle than I ever could with a rimmy or centerfire. 500 rounds of ammo for less than a tenner...

Anyone else want to stick the boot in on Deker? :D

Only kidding! But you really hurt my feelings, Deker! :D

I'm pretty sure i read a review on this gun in the airgunners handbook available from Whsmiths! quite expensive though at £6.99 for an oversized magazine! But there is some good reading in there. If you only want to read the review just do it in the shop then it's free lol :whistling:

I regularly use my BSA Lightning - and the rabbits, pigeons and squirrels that I've shot would definitely not say it's a toy (well, if they could speak anyway  )

I also use a BSF Bavaria, and an HW95 - also both at 12 ft/lbs, and these seem to settle the pest problem fairly effectively too :D

Admittedly, if I could afford a PCP, then I would probably apply for an FAC rating, and get the power turned uo, but at the moment, 12 ft/lb does just fine :good:

Just like Timjim I had to read Dekers post twice Chris before I realised he was referring to the sound moderator being a toy. :icon_redface:

Chris...take another look...I'm not talking about 12ft lb air rifles...I'm talking about the moderators they stick on some of the cheap ones!!!

Just bought an XL Tactical on Friday to replace my ageing Webley Vulcan and am absolutely delighted with it. Fitted my scope onto the excellent scope rail and headed off to the countryside where friend of my wife's family has a rural home with several acres which he refers to as Bunny Butlins - his garden is suffering really badly so he asked if I could lend a hand. After an hour putting pellets through the new beast in a zeroing session I was impressed with the accuracy, 25 yard 10p sized groups by the end of the hour. Got to his place and noted his bottom field appeared to be rabbit central, so went in and scared them back into their holes and settled myself into a convenient grassy knoll. First impressions of the gun were excellent, light and easy to handle, and within 30 minutes the first bunny was in the bag with a clean head shot at about 20 yards. 2 more followed, one after the other proving that the silencer was effective as they both hopped out of the same patch within 30 seconds of each other, the second obviously not hearing what had just happened to his mate. No.4 appeared behind me so it was a case of swinging the rifle round for a quick shot, no bother with this loveley wee carbine. Unfortunately the heavens then opened, so had to cut the evening short, but overall am delighted with the gun and recommend it.
