Advice on New Xocet xs .22

Recommended Posts

Hi all, im just comin back t the hunting scene. And wanting t spend £200-£250 for spring rifle. Cant afford t go pcp, wi cost of tank ect.

Was looking at the new Xocet xs. read veiw reviews, sounds like it cud handle bit of rabbit control and the odd Dopey Woodey that fell into my sights.

Has anybody used one, only down side i have read is Bit loud on unmoderated model. and problem wi stock screws snappin.

Any advice wud b much appreciated, even if its t say dont bother buy this gun instead.

Regards

My lad has a exocet xs in .22, he is well pleased with it. He has put a few thousand pellets (accupel) through it and had no problems at all.

It seems to be making the 10 ft/lbs mark, and is fairly quiet thanks to it's moderator. Probably a little crude, compared to the more expensive "shooting machines" but strong and reliable anyway.

I worked in an airgun shop for ten years and sold quite a few springers. The xocet is a decent gun and will knock down a rabbit at thirty yards. You will never get the same range as with a pcp though due to recoil. The bsa lightening is also a decent enough gun. Personally though Id go for a weirach. the triiggers are in a league of their own, and the accuracy will be better. At the end of the day though see what feels right for you,and if it dosent come with a silencer, buy one for it. it does make a difference ! Ive had a exocet, lightening, air arms tx200 hc,weirach 97k and theoben evolution so you dont always need to go for a pcp ! hope this helps a bit but at the end of the day its just my opinion so dont take it as gospel. I havent shot it yet but Ive heard some really good comments about th new synthetic stocked lightening as well. :wallbash:

Why the need for a :wallbash:

Rob......wondering why.

Absolutely! Yes, the Exocet is a good rabbit gun,but as dixy says 30 yards is about it's best for reliability.

As he also mentions the BSA Lightning as well, that is a good gun too. My pal at work has just had a new "plastic fantastic" tactical model in .177".

This is a super rifle too, and if I was to have to choose between that and the Webley, then the BSA would win my vote I think.
