fergie 0
I asked on vet-medic.com about Panacur Dog/Cat Wormer 10% Liquid 100ml and they said it was ok to use at the kitten dose (adjusted to the ferrets weight) but said it was not licensed for ferrets and I could try this Ferret Wormer I was just wondering if any one had tried it and if it was ok or should I stick to the Panacur I have never wormed any of my ferrets before and i don't think they have worms it was more of a prevention than any thing Edited June 25, 2008 by fergie Quote Link to post

stubby 175
we seem to get this question come up every year, ferrets are NOT dogs or cats, are therefore do not need the same sort of treatment if you saying you have seen "worms" in your ferrets feces, then fine, but I doubt it, remember, vets are there to make money, they will tell you anything, if they think it will keep you coming back Quote Link to post

The one 8,486
Dont know how many folk have viewed this but if your not seeing worms in the scat corner why worm your ferrets ?? What makes you think they have worms ??? Quote Link to post
stubby 175
I'll probably get crucified for my answer, but here goes, depending on who/where you get you first ferret, starts the ball rolling, lets say you get a ferret/s purely for working, you chat to the ferreter that your getting the ferts from, most will give you a brief run down on ferret husbandry, followed by "any problems, give us a ring" that new ferreter, will get most of his infomation, from keepers of working ferrets, thus dos'ent start asking what to feed them, when to worm them, flea collars etc same person buys a ferret/s from either a re-homing centre, or pet ferret keeper, ask's the same questions, but gets different answers, most pet keepers will treat their ferts as part of the family, and as dogs/cats are family and get treated for all manor of things, therefore they treat the fert the same way, baths to stop it smelling, flea drops/.collars, worming tablets etc etc etc look in pets at home, theres a few different products, marketed for ferrets, a few are good, but the rest I think are just there, as the producers have spotted a niche in the market, pet owners want the best for their animals, the stuff advertised above, the spot on stuff, great idea for someone keeping a single ferret, it will sell, but at £3.99 pkt, and reading the packets, its only enough for one, do we really think a proper ferreter is going to rush out and buy 10 pkts plus for his ferrets, ticks can be removed with a tick puller, ticks are part and parcel of ferreting flea's from rabbits on your ferts, will NOT BREED, they will only breed on the host, a rabbit, and can be dealt with a quick blast with frontline spray Quote Link to post
Kay 3,709
Totally agree Stubby , fool & there money are easily parted in my opinion , its why places like pets at home sell all this stuff, if a ferrets kept clean & its bedding changed regular they dont need bathing in ferret shampoo . As for that beapher stuff its mainly ivormec & a carrier i suspect , but one question thats been asked off Beapher & they didnt have the courtesy to reply , does ivormec actually kill fleas ?, I dont think otc stuff is any good anyway, i wouldnt use anything other than a veterinary preperation for fleas , its false ecconomy in the long run Quote Link to post
