Cant wait, never longnetted before always been a pursenet man, getting on a bit, so now Im going to surround em instead of sneaking up on them, must be easier than crawling through, brambles, gorse etc, all the best DAVE.

it is alot easyer now all you need is a 50 yard quickset or 2 25s and your sorted

Im new to all the long netting art, but that looks like a basket ball hoop and net ready to hang

looks like the same kind of thing without the back board, what is its use

some kind of carrying device?

its for the quicksets you put the netting in the bag and the poles at the slots at the top

why not use a bag or something along that line, does the B-Ball net work that good?

Well theres not that many 4 foot ten rabbits who play basketball, is there?

ok, so you put a 100yd longnet in your carrier bag, grab hold off all the net poles, as this is a QUICKSET NET where the poles are already attached to the net, get to your permission, and spend an hour or two, untangling your net

 

with the proper basket, as dave has made, you place the strap behind your neck, basket in front of you, take out first pole, normally white to denote the first pole, stick it in the ground and start walking backwards, the longnet flows freely from the basket as you do so, your hands/palms are held facing down over basket, the next pole, pop's up into your hands, to be inserted into the ground, and you keep going, until all the net is out,

 

picking the net up, is the reverse of above, simply pulling any unwanted twigs from the net, before its pulled back into the basket

 

or you could try using your basket ball hoop and net, I reckon it'll fall out the bottom though

you get what you pay for in this life

At last!! a straight forward answer!

All i wanted to know was how it worked, yes i made a silly comment about how it looked, but to the inexperienced (ME) it does look like a basket ball net, no need to make the art of long netting harder to pick up by talking about six foot ten inches of rabbit, anyway thanks for clearing it all up Stubby

sadly with the long netting game there is a lot of confusion concerning the use of either basket system or nets rigged on end pins. As stubby has said the basket system is simply a way of carrying the nets allready rigged to the poles, rather than attaching the nets on the netting field.

 

The thing with all field sports everything is easy if you allready know or have been shown, it you havnt been shown it can all seem a little confusing. The sad thing also is many of those who know feel the need to belittle those who dont which i personally feel is uncalled for because, those who now know a little about such a sport wouldnt know nothing if those before them done nothing to help them.
