air rifle on train

im taking my air rifle back to the shop i got it from for some work on it. anyway i will be going on the train to lancaster. i dont really want to jump on with it just in my gun case. shall i try and stick it in a hold all or something. there is a little transport police office at my station. shall i tell them i have the gun, if so will they allow me on the train. i will not have any pellets on my person btw that would be just stupid

If it's unloaded and inside a secured cover, ye can take it pretty much where ye like. Just don't let it out of ye sight. Common sense and statute.

i would visit the transport police staition, let them know the pupose of your journey. and if your gun slip has a hole on the zip like they do on a suit case by a lock and lock it up, this is what i do to & from my permissions.

cheers guys. last thing i wanted was to go the transport police and say i am carrying a gun then them tell me i cant make the trip. that would suck. once again thanks for the hasty responses at this late hour

Sound advice.....

make sure you have no pellets in the gun bag and if you have a mag take pellets out and put it in your pocket

If you haven't got a small padlock, use a cable tie to secure the zip pullers.

I do this on general luggage on planes. Deters casual thieves.

Because Im only 13 and cant (strictly speaking) carry a gun on a public highway I put mine in a guitar case. Noone batts an eyelid and i kinda makes me feel like a gangstar lmao. Even though I wouldnt even think of taking it out near a road
