I use my springer for bushing too and there's not much cover he cant get through, if there's the smell of game in cover he'll go into it full belt!!!

Talking of beddies, a guy who used to come on here, had a 1st X beddy/whippet about 21 ins and that was a real grafter, when out with the dogs it'd plough through really heavy cover relentlessly!!!

I've always preferred the look of tall lightweight dogs, but I don't half love whippets and really want one some day. A whippet cross would suit me fine if it wouldn't get itself shredded in the bush. What whippet crosses besides beddie/whippet do some of you use then, and why?

As has been mentioned above, a lot of it is down to the individual dog. I work three kelpies and although two of them are great bushing dogs, the other needs o lot of encouragement and tends to be "the lurcher", for want of a better phrase, waiting outside for the bolt. With regards to size, mine are all less than 20".

My pup (grey/beddie/beardie/saluki/bull etc) seems to love going into the bush but at 7 months and 25" she's getting a bit big for it. Doesn't seem to stop her, mind. But she's got paper thin skin and already has several little nicks and scars.

i usualy run all my lurchers and terriers together when bushing,keeps them fit and sharp for winter.pluss i love nothing better than watching them all work together and walking the countryside at same time,dont leave much in any bushes once they been through.

my old fell terrior bob he used to burn through the cover best bushing/ferreting dog id had. there wouldnt be a sunday go by when he wouldnt get one or two in the cover brilliant nose as well.

Well hes got a few scars around the nose but that was due to a run in with my EBT Queenie and one between the eyes from a collision with a fence while running a rabbit to cover, but he seems to bounce off things quite well and touch wood hes had no injurys so far.
