help lads i just bought a brand new s410 classic, just this minute tried it out and it might be its new but when i pull the bolt back and then push it forward to load the pellet the damn thing will not fire then i pull the bolt back and do the same again and two frigging pellets come out when i pull the trigger,it has fired a full ten off but all of a sudden it tends to load the pellet but its as if i havent pulled the bolt back far enough to cock the rifle, its a cracking bit of kit ,i have simmons white tail classics 3.5x10.5x50 scopes, silencer, cost nearly £600.00 for the damn thing what are my doing wrong lads or has anyone had similar problems.........

ferret is your gun bolt action or the new sidelever system?

no al its a bolt action s410 classic just bought from dai in neath gun shop, the problem seems to be i havent taken the bolt back until it clicks just fired ten straight off with no problems, but i am going to take it in on saturday to check out the power on it some boys have had new ones at only 9 ft lbs....trouble is they have to go straight back to airarms...if thats the case i will be looking for something else with him....might look at the falcon or similar....what are you shooting now al....

hi ferret im useing 410 extra walnut thumbhole new sidelever cocking, just sold ranger 50 ft lbs,my advice would not to be in to much of a rush to get rid of 410,if its got to go back to aa then stick with it mate

So I've had some similar problems with my 410 due I think to it being my first gun. I agree with everything that other more experienced people than me have said. I have two other observations to add.

1) it depends on the pellet: (strange but true) if the inside of the skirt has an inner "ledge" inside it (like an RWS superdome) it does sometimes happen that it won't go in first time round. Don't be rough - you'll just deform the pellet and it won't go where you want it even if it does go in. if there is no inner ledge (like a BSA Interceptor) so the inner skirt looks wider, then in my experience you never have a problem. It just seems like some pellets are a better shape to be pushed into place by the bolt (or more forgiving if the indexing action isn't exactly perfect). bottom line - try different pellets - see if it helps. Developing the feel of the gun (as others say) helps a lot

2) in my experience it is better NOT to pull the bolt all the way back when you reload the cartridge. Just push it back until its out of the way of the cartridge slot and then carefully slot the cartridge home. then push the bolt forward (not back) to load your first pellet. This helped me because I was having my problem with the first pellet in a newly loaded cartridge.

Basically I now don't have the problem following my steps above. i hope it works out for you :D

I also thought there was something wrong, just had to cock the rifle properly

not one of the wise!

ITS NOT JUST YOU MATE A LOT OF PEOPLE GET PROBLEMS TILL THEY FIND THE KNACK .AIR ARMS MUST HAVE DECIDED THERE WERE SOME ISSUES TO HAVE CHANGED TO A SIDE LEVER COCKING SYSTEM
