SportingShooter 0
Did your FEO hand over your certificate without you having any security? Not the Norm. Anyway, The most accepted and secured way to fix your cabinet is to drill into the solid brick or stone wall and fix your cabinet with expanding bolts. Once the bolts have tightened the cabinet should be as secure as is necessary, there is no need to have it fixed through the floor as well as the wall but it just makes the likelihood of any discrepancies more distant. lgray88 4
yeh that does seem odd , i had to have all my security in place before he would hand over my certifcates to me , but is there not some law that if you are in possesion of 1 firearm/shotgun it is possible to remove the bolt etc and chain up to a secure place not sure if its true ???? liam Quote Link to post

Am surprised your FAO has given you a certificate before you have a cabinet or it being secured correctly. It needs to be "secured to the structure of the building by at least 4 x 10mm fixing devises (rawl bolts)." Not be visable to casual visitors or be obvious to window cleaners or workmen who may have a view into your home. This info was given by police in the form of a fact sheet, but if you need more details then you can contact your local licensing office. regards Owdnorthener Quote Link to post
