Afraid not mackem, their is a huge forrest a mile from here and I can see if from the study as I type this post and it has a few adders, I walk the dogs there a lot and if I see any I'll take a piccy.......... comanche 3,076 Posted June 24, 2008 Report Share Posted June 24, 2008 We're famous for adders round here .Years ago our local woodland was in the Guiness book of Records for the biggest.Try finding one when you want to though! Couple of years ago I almost stepped on a black adder curled up on a footpath.Watched it for quite a while .No camera of course. Something that struck me was the fact that though it's background colour was a velvety,almost mole-like , matt-black, the classic zig-zag "dried bracken" pattern was visible in an even darker black. WE OFTEN MOVED HIS HALF A DOZEN HIVES AND WITHOUT A DOUBT THERE WOULD BE AT LEAST ONE UNDER THE 6 ..... THOUGH WE DID SEE 4 UNDER ONE HIVE AT ONCE DURING A COLD SNAP GRASS SNAKES ? ............. WELL I HAD ONE AS A KID , SWAPPED IT FOR A FEW OWLS EGGS I SEEM TO REMEMBER ..... IT WAS OVER 3 FEET AND A LITTLE SOD FOR ESCAPEING OUT OF ITS CASE AND FOR HAVING A LUMP OUT OF ME I WAS ONLY ABOUT 8 OR 9 YRS OLD AND ACCIDENTLY ON PURPOSE LET THE LITTLE BULL RUSSEL IN ONE DAY .........
