I think that its about time members on this hunting forum that are based or located in and around the hot spot area of dog theft, let everyone know in a topic entitled as such then contact each other via PM and arrange a meeting in your local pub! Get as many people together as you can and plan a set up. I am talking from experience here It may have been car stereo's but the principle is the same and it will work but ya gotta want to do it! Just taking the investigative and tracking role into your own hands cause mr PLOD aint gonna do it for you Its time to stop talking and start acting aint it!! Quote Link to post

smelly dog 16
If people stop putting a price on working terriers, then scum would not steal them. The scum are only interested in making money thats the reason they steal to make money... Quote Link to post
Waz 4,262
got my red/choc dog stole 15month back from the Maidstone area. One of my neigbours spotted a Transit van parked up the road with French plates. I left the wife to wait on the cops [3 hours] went with a couple of mates to Dover and got the c**t with my dog boarding a SeaFrance ferry to Calais. We spotted a transit van in the car park with french plates,we confronted the driver i shouted the dogs name and i heard him whineing in the back,as i started fighting with him my mate got in the back and got the dog, five or six of his mates jumped out of other vans,as i had my terrier back we legged it.when i got home i notified the police that they had boarded a ferry heading for france.they said they would look into it but as usual nothing was done. police said no van of that discription boarded the ferry, and that they were probably there to pick some one up, who came over as a foot passenger. What was the registration, especially the last 2 digits? Quote Link to post

I hear what your saying mate and sympathise but what i am suggesting is not one man with his sleeves rolled up and ending up getting nicked. I am talking about catching them red handed! with lots of evidence and plenty of bodies as back up! that is the only way! even if you knew where they lived if you step foot onto the property they can have you. No ya gotta be cleverer than that. If one or 2 of the crew get video evidence then that stands mate! That is what the anti's do but they then edit their footage and it still f g stands in court!! How did you manage to get nicked anyway! If you dont mind me asking! Quote Link to post
Guest ooty
think we should be waiting outside there doors with a van and a few bods,i aint forgot it and wont drop it long as i live, this lot nicked the wrong dogs!!,i dont think you will stop it,just have to be as carefull as you can, chippings good but a thief doesnt no that a dog is chiped, cctv is only good so long as there not wearing anthing that covers the face.the best iv found is add a collie or something sharp n clever to your place(ok for me as i also keep n breed a few lurchers that guard and bite but mayb not practical for others).my educated guess is its nearly always somone you no. if you sell pups, dont hand out your address to anyone on the phone,if ther genuine they will understand your situation and be happy to meet you elsewhere, only let strangers see what they need to.take pics ov dogs you are offered, say i may no someone the dog will suit .take ther phone no and post them.New Topic. a dog i was offered!!,if someone trying to sell you a dog wont let you take a pic, seems shady to me! best ov all try have someone home as much as poss. I agree mate all very good points here and ones that all here should take heed of. By the way my memory was refreshed yesterday by strong stuff! there is an organisation FMWTC that is just the kind of thing that i have been talking about here for the last few days or so. They act on dog theft as I have been suggesting! they are a group of people just like us but with a difference. They stand together as one unit, and help each other with just this type of theft. They are all over the country from devon and cornwall to north Yorkshire and beyond. I think that it would be a great idea for us all to join up as like ive said before there is power in numbers! I still maintain tho everyone that can and wants too, should form an alliance in and around the recent dog theft area. Infact any area for that matter!I know first hand how productive this can prove to be. I am very impressed with some of you here that have said they would stand by each other, its times like this that we need each others support because as with so many forums thay can contain too much squibbling and not enough sencerity. I would help out any one here that has suffered a great loss at the hands of these thieving cowardly gits. If you guys want to form an alliance then I would be in, you just PM me a meeting place and I will show up I am always travelling up to Cumbria etc takes me 4 hours on a good day! its no big deal to me and at the end of the day thats exactly what forming an alliance is all about. I am away now for a week but I have taken notes and am going to ask everyone i know and inform them of the recent thefts and to keep their ears to the ground. I will post any info that i get back! Regards to all, Symon. Quote Link to post
smelly dog 16
Rother Valley WTC are trying to organise working dog clubs to work together, with the help of Barry Wade Working Terrier Federation and FMWTC. Talking about having a Text and internet Alert to all club reps. So if a dog is stolen in Scotland and a reg is seen, the owner tells his rep, the rep texts info to ALL club reps and they text all their members. There will be a meeting for any club reps as soon as pos. If you are in a Lurcher, Terrier, Gun Dog or Hound Club get your reps to get in touch with RVWTC, Info to contact in back of EDRD. Meeting will be, any ideas to prevent Thieving. We all need to work together.Ireland, Wales, England, Scotland, France, USA and every one that works dogs in every corner. Lets find Who is dealing with stolen dogs and make sure they can never do it again. Edited June 28, 2008 by smelly dog Quote Link to post
shortshot 0
I would think that this very site acts as the primary marketplace for "dubiously acquired" dogs. Take a look at for sale section and tell me that all this... it's a lad I know , who has them but he has no computer so I'll pass you his number lark..doesn't stink of stolen dog! Hunting Life has much to commend it but some of the adverts/advertisers! OK as long as it's not your dog thats gone mentality. Quote Link to post

paul the poacher 2
what i have never understood is the people who buy the stolen dogs.is it just me or is most of the love of the sport in bringing a dog to your standard nd working as you wish him to .because to me starting a dog as a pup getting him going then when they make the grade anddo anything to please its master is a fantastic feeling,im sorry but to buy a dog a stolen one at that just so you can have some fun is sh*t the dog wont respect you and you wont respect it there is no bond.this is my feelings on the matter others may be different hope you get your dogs mate you deserve them as they do you.
