Yes. Providing the gun is in decent condition and putting out, roughly, the power set by the factory.

 

To determine this take it to your local gunsmith and ask to have it chronographed. This will cost a couple of quid.

 

They will be able to tell you whether the gun is underpowered, which could make it unsuitable for pest control. Or whether it is overpowered, which would make it an unregistered firearm.

 

Both are bad. One would make the rifle unsuitable for anything other than tin cans, the other could see you on the wrong end of a firearms charge.
