fox cubs

Absolutely, no doubt about it.

But to have nothing to do other than to "hunt" a fox for "sport" (or any animal) at this time of year is the trademark of a messer.

JMHO.

if ya trying to imply that i hunt them for sport try picking a doz dead hens and maybe a turkey or two and see if ya feel like waiting till winter to to find who,s doing the damage, i pay good money for me hens and i,m not prepared to see them go to feed some fox cubs!

damn right, does my head in sometimes when people go on about respect for your quarry, does that red b*****d who killed all my mates old mans chickens have any respect for his quarry ? no, dont even kill just for food, just kills them all

cheers mate! he does,nt keep birds by the sound of it!

LOL Your a bit paranoid, I was meaning well. Must be my Irish accent.

I too have lost valuble poultry to foxes. Like I said you deal with problem foxes.

But when I loose fowl I target the foxes in that area and not drive 5 miles up the road for a handy shot out the window of a jeep, thus boosting my ego.

You'll probably take this post as a death threat, LOL.

timjim,

Of course they kill for food, you obviously have no understanding of the fox. They will kill everything they can (obviously) as they are wild animals and never know when their next meal is going to be. They don't have it as easy as you, they can't just go to the nearest super market and get some food!!!

The fact that you are a human being (I presume you are) means you should respect all quarry, we are the dominant species on this planet and wether you like it or not that comes with the responsibility, if you can't see that, well my words are just wasted on you.

Why people can't just tie-up a dog or two out side the chicken enclosure at night is beyond me, obviously preventing the dog from getting the birds aswell. Mankind can go to the moon, but it always boggles me how people cant figure out how to prevent their poultry from being eaten by foxes. So people go out and kill a fox, which doesn't prevent the problem, because even if you do get the right individual, another one will take its place. PREVENT the fox from accessing your birds in the first place and life will be so much easier!

as i said before i do it if and when its necessary, the allotments where i have mine are being plagued by charlie so i thought a cull was in order, i,m not somebody who kills for no reason, just trying to protect what is mine, all i was doing was trying to find the culprit

Jart

If your collie is not or has not been a fox dog for the past 12 years , how was you intending on killing charlie boy?

you dont have a dog to flush and there is no mention of a gun???

By the way Greggy is thinking along the same lines as me , he is not praising you

i wasnt going out to kill with the collie, since my mate was in bed with a hangover(cosey dunt) all i could do was try and find the culprit, i couldnt take a gun on the land i was on for fear of the land owner hearing me, i,m not the first one to do this am i? i made a call to another friend to help me out but he couldnt come either, there was nothing i could do but carry on with my walk and hope she was still there the next day to sort out, when i did check again i expected what i found, she had moved them on, when i catch up with her again i,ll let you all know! :feck::feck:

:hunter: i'm one of your so called riflemen, we are out throughout the year (we can't wait for frost and snow),the only reason we don't shoot foxs this time of year is that we can't see them cause the crops are to tall.

In my opinion the only good fox is a DEAD fox. :gunsmilie:
