jart 0
had a good walk this morning, me mate was in bed with a hang over, his little border bitch is in pup so she was left at home, so it was just me and me border collie, she,s good with rats rabbits but wont entertain fox, checked the first sett no sign of any activity as i went to check a drain close by me collie put her nose down and ran straight to the holly bush the pipe is under, when i got to the drain there was rabbit legs feathers and bones all over, although no fox was seen i think its a goodbet charlie is at home, what did surprise me was me collie trying to get down the drain, she was far too big but it didnt stop her trying! its taken me 12 year but i think i,ve finally got her interested in fox, that was the only success i had as all the other setts i checked was empty, the collie seemed to think so too Quote Link to post
Neil Cooney. 1
You'll find the vixen will have them moved by morning. In the past with litters born within veiw of a road and doing no harm I've often gone out and let a terrier in the lenght of it's lead. The following morning they're gone. No apologies but I hate the Summer rifle men and diggers. If they were a problem I'd sort it out. Looks like you'll have to bring your collie on a dig in the Winter, Quote Link to post

Neil Cooney. 1
I'm a big believer if you do enough fox control over the Winter you'll leave a small stable population of foxes and if a rougue appears you deal with it. I hate the type of fellow who starts his fox control in Spring and Summer. Come Autumn they're boasting about their tally. Just my opinion ,thats all. Quote Link to post
Guest G.Mac
All Spring and up to now I've been out early morning walking the dogs. Stink of fox at entrance to one field has been very strong. Last week the fields were cut. 2 mornings in a row there have been cubs still in the field just off the road for everyone to see. Past 2 mornings they are gone, there are lads round here who will be out from July doing cover with guns shooting whatever comes out. Wouldnt surprise me if they were out lamping past few nights. F..kin sad if you ask me. Quote Link to post

Neil Cooney. 1
Absolutely, no doubt about it. But to have nothing to do other than to "hunt" a fox for "sport" (or any animal) at this time of year is the trademark of a messer. JMHO. Quote Link to post

steve noon 0
Fair enough if a fox is causing a problem this time of year but i think Neil is talking about the same fellas that are up my way. They only appear to dig during the Spring/Summer and do be out lamping as well.Never around during the winter.Pathetic really.Bragging about hard dogs that kill cubs.
