SEAN3513 7
i use a red filter on my lamp for rabbits. now......iv'e been reading that rabbits are effectively colour blind..so a red light will make no difference??? i seem to have more success with the filter on than off. is this simply because the light is not as bright??? wondered what your experiences are............with or without?? simply a matter of curiosity!! thanks sean Quote Link to post
Malt 379
I read somewhere that a rabbit has a problem seeing the colours at the red end of the spectrum. I have had better luck with a red filter in the past too. Quote Link to post
thegreatwhitehunter 0
same here i find that they are more likely to be spooked without a red filter and get better bags with it on!! Quote Link to post

wife 1
as was said rabbits see in different shades, red is not so visible to them, but it is visible, try it your self,on your own,go to a field and shine red filter on,even a variable one, have the wind in your direction so they cant smel you, they will be aware of it,not so much as a white though, there are many different filters you can get but the hard work has been done over the years by others, red is the most effective out of them all,we use a red filter for airgun use, also lurchers, and rim fire and 17 hmr,we keep the red filter on until we are within range, then shoot, more of a spotting tactic once we enter a field, the variable is well handy if used with a poweful lamp, you get used to spotting the rabbits with it on really low, certainly adds to the bag a red filter does Quote Link to post

andy s410c 61
I always use the red filter on my Tracer Atom Pro & for me i think it does make a difference.A couple of times i,ve been within spitting distance of a rabbit in the beam.I also keep the beam down to airgun range & use the lamp on full beam only to see where they are in the fields very quickly Quote Link to post
