mark01856 7
sorry to bring this subject up again, as i know it has been covered MANY times, but.. as some of you might know, i have been looking for a Bsa scorpion t10, and been having problems with it being right handed, i am a lefty . anyway i am in the process of maybe getting the stock sorted to allow for the lefty. the question is is what calibre should i go for? I have always used .22 and thought that .177 was for kids( until i joined this site and found out how WRONG and stupid i was in that thinking) i have a .22 logun which i use for the rabbits, but know know that you can reach further distances with more accuracy with .177, im just unsure of the stopping power? Any help would be MUCH appreciated. ATB Mark Smith Edited June 20, 2008 by mark01856 Quote Link to post
Guest bigredbusa
yep paper punchers also love 177 because of what you have stated , i use .22 as i know the limit of a .22 and also want a bit more stopping power . air gun pellets have come on leaps and bounds and any .22 will be a better all round calibre to use at 40 yds in the field . lol now watch the backlash Quote Link to post
mark01856 7
well i have always preffered .22 but i just dont know if it would be worth getting my new rifle in .177. i would like to but to be honest im mostly into shooting rabbits and crows, i just really dont have aclue what i will go for. johnnyboy28 1
any more suggestions, i want to put my order in soon but still not sure what calibre to go for. If you have not ordered your gun yet ,you should not have any problem getting a left handed stock. Also my choice for rabbits is .22 not saying 1.77 cant do it its just my choice Quote Link to post

Malt 379
The choice is up to you fella! I was brought up shooting a .22, so it's what I know. I've thought about getting a .177 though, just to see what they're like. Both can do the same job in a slightly different way. Quote Link to post

Coney 3
.22 for me I'm afraid. Quote Link to post
Gav 1,708
I think if your used to .22 stick with it mate, you already know the limits so why change now? Hope I am making sense Quote Link to post
victor 10
.22 mate. used .177 more than .22 but i do think ( in my experiance ) that is is far better Quote Link to post
ChrisJones 7,975
As always I'll argue shot placement over any calibre available. All have their strengths and weaknesses but the biggest weakness of all is the shooter. If you can't hit it accurately, then you can't kill it cleanly. Quote Link to post

Combine the two together and you will have by far better results. Quote Link to post
