tonetone 0
hi all just build a ladder trap bout 10' by 6' put the high peaks in and a ladder with the 2 long pieces 12" apart and the rungs 5" apart. i have watched jackdaws drop in, eat and then fly upside down onto the rungs and then do a wee pull-up and off they go. what is my design fault? do i need curtains and if so how wide? how far down? (target species jacks, rooks then later i would like to bait it with rabbit for hoodies) any help would be great thanks tone Quote Link to post

john b 38
Your rungs want to be only about 3 inches apart for Jackdaws. Quote Link to post
dama 0
I've had 5 Jackdaws this week with a Larson ( and 9 Magpies ) Quote Link to post

Guest JohnGalway
If it's possible, it's a good idea to make an adjustable ladder. Basically just a rectangle, and drill holes certain distances apart so you can insert wooden dowels. I did that with mine, I think I spaced them 1.5 or 2" apart, can't rememebr now, but it will allow you greater flexibility depending on the species you're after. Quote Link to post
murraywatt 0
some of the portable cages we use have a lengh or rabbit letting which is halved long ways fixed onto the bottom of the ladder and can either hang loose or get a bit of snare wire to make a small funnel i prefer to use a peace of rylock instead of a funnel or ladder Quote Link to post
