ermin 0
I found fenn Type best as a multi-purpose trap cheapest place i found was www.collinsnets.co.uk Mk IV £140 a box (40) Mk VI £90 a box (20) Quote Link to post
comanche 3,045
Fenns= well tried ,effective, easier +safer to set for the inexperienced .Come in two sizes. To be used legally and work humanely and effectivly they must be set in tunnels with the correct minimal clearance between tunnel roof and the jaws of the trap when closed. This minimises the chance of the prey animal being thrown partially clear and foul caught. Body grips =great traps once you have learned to handle them but not an "entry level" device. The legal situation concerning tunnels is the same as with the Fenn but the tunnel set- up needs to be a bit more specialised. I use both .Their applications are basically comparable but some tasks lend themselves to to use of one design in prefence to the other. I'm only talking for myself and any trap requires carefull handling but feel Body -Grips would be a design to try out only once experience had been gained using Fenns .Just thinking of your fingers! I prefer Body-Grips for mink as i have sometimes had them not killed outright in Mk 6 Fenns, but as pointed out they do take some getting used too when setting. On squirrels Mk 6 are plenty powerful enough to ensure a clean kill. As always make sure you comply with all the current legislation on setting. Quote Link to post
