Sex Discrimination by the Countryside Alliance

Recommended Posts

All right cards on the table :whistling: you all know I work for SACs as a volunteer, and I don't have much time for the Countryside Alliance!! but!! this article on their latest heather routes E-mail magazine takes the biscuit, Its illegal to discriminate against anyone on the grounds of race, religion, sexual orintation, political beliefs or gender!! That being the case why doesn't the SCA give everyone a discount membership on this day?? irrespective of sex?? By the way!! at £30 our usual price, for a regular full membership and at £22 a discount membership for being a member of the Hunting Life forum. Our membership and insurance at the Scottish Association for Countrysports is still well within the ordinary guys budget

Scottish Countryside Alliance/Countyside Alliance usual price £52!!!! even with them giving the girls a discounted membership wer'e still nearly a tenner cheaper :clapper: and remember our membership/ nsurance is open to all who reside in the UK and not just Scotland

Tom, agreed its not right to discriminate on the grounds of sex; but I should think that the way the SCA have done this is more to do with marketing than discrimination laws. It was/is a promotion aimed at women at a womens spcific event; i.e a Ladies Day. I would think, but am no expert that it probable falls ooutside discrimination laws because in essance it a specific promotion for a specific event.

Take it further; surely a Ladies Day, in that case must be illegall??

I don't think its anything to get hot under the collar about; but a great oportunity to reinforce the mesage about the cost efectivness of SACS membership.

I'm not hot under the collar about the situation jus highlighting an anomaly that should'nt legally exist!! there is nothing wrong with ladies days and long may they continue :boogie: , the issue is giving discount memberships on one issue Gender?? what next?? family memberships for protestants or catholics only agnostics and aethists need'nt apply and your right it was also a cynical plug on my part to highlight the benefits to members of this forum about the financial saving in joining SAC's

I dont know about this one (thats not why I am making a comment though), but if this is the case then surely it should be illegal to advertise insurance on the same grounds i.e. "Sheilas Wheels" etc, there is a lot of it about, targeting solely women. I do agree with sporting age though and it is just a marketing venture to attract more women members, but then again on the other hand they should justify it by having a mens discount day huh :hmm:

as you can see that insurance company also caters for male drivers A direct quote from the Sheilas Wheels website they also can't discriminate against men!! they are just very carefull with their use of words in atttracting what they see as a niche market

Tom

Is Sheilas’ Wheels ‘woman only’ car insurance? While we cater especially for ladies, men are welcome to take out a policy with us but our benefits are ones that women will appreciate. Of course you can also cover the men in your life (husbands, partnersbut our benefits are ones that women will appreciate.
