Guest JohnGalway
Afternoon all, I've bought myself a remote controlled caller. A Mini Colibri, all the way from Italia. It's more familiar name over this side of the world is the digital Callmaster. But, the Callmaster is just a renamed Mini Colibri. It just arrived this morning. In the destructions it reads the remote control has a range of around 50 metres, I decided this obvious bit of fibbing needed testing. Back on the farm I picked out a spot that has 160 metres of uninterrupted line of sight. I set my caller unit on an upturned five gallon water drum and started walking away from it. I tested the various ranges from 30 metres to 160 metres as verified by rangefinder. I was more than delighted to discover that at 160 metres the remote controller works brilliantly! Increase/decrease the volume, or switch between any of the 10 calls on the chip. I managed to call in two slightly annoyed greycrows/hoodies with my testing, for photographic purposes naturally. Later on I'll try it at longer ranges down the beach, just to see what it can do. Now, as many will know I already have a Callmaster unit. Good news for those owning them is that the chips in the Callmaster will also work with the Mini Colibri, as you'd expect, given they're basically the same unit. I've also seen these units on display as the Tecnoest. All the units themselevs will have Mini Colibri written on the casing. Good buy I reckon All the best, John. Quote Link to post
trappa 518
Certainly looks a good set up john. How much did it set you back if you dont mind? and why did you buy one of these if you already have a callmaster? Im a nosy bas*ard!! Quote Link to post
Guest JohnGalway
An eye stinging £200. But, since as you rightly say I already have a Callmaster I knew it's pedigree. This new caller will come in useful for ambushing foxes I know all too well how good a Callmaster will bring in a fox, but the one I have has no remote. So, set this out 100 yards or so and hide up He won't know what hit him. Quote Link to post
mattydski 560
Very nice want one Quote Link to post
Guest JohnGalway
This next photo shows the back panel and the chip removed. The blue button there has two settings ON lets the remote control control the unit and 1 lets the unit controls control it. Now, to me it would have been better to place this switch out side with the rest but that's the way it works. Can use one setting for remote ambushes and the other if you are walk about lamping Quote Link to post

The Cheque is in the post Gary That'll buy you an excellent caller, a small poultry unit and sit on it's roof I know a lot of you use your hand this is the way I swing I've got a multitude of calls for it seeing as the Callmaster chips work with it as well. Plenty of fox calls, rabbit and hare distress calls, phesant poults, turkey, chickens, lambs, piglets etc. This is where I got mine. The caller itself is made by TecnoEST, their website seems to be down at the moment. You can get Mini Colibri units of varying descriptions here and here. Quote Link to post
