Guest buster321c
The Tipton Slasher was William Perry (1820-1880); born in Tipton in the Black Country between Wolverhampton and Birmingham, he worked on the canal but left it for prize-fighting. He was Champion of England from 1850 to 1857. Finally defeated by the legendary Tom Sayers, Perry returned to boating. He died from 'lung problems'. The statue stands in Tipton a couple of miles from me . Also a couple of miles in the other direction is where Phil Drabble was born and raised, and finally my kids go riding at a place near Lichfield ( near my permission ) where the famous D B Plummer spent much of his life ............ Mark Rhodes, runner-up in ITV's Pop Idol 2003 contest, is also from Darlaston , up my street actually

SportingShooter 0
There are ruins of a mansion house on my shoot which once belonged to the Pryce Family, there is documentary evidence that Oliver Cromwell came to stay there on numerous occasions. There is also local evidence that in one of the fields on my shoot, the Cavaliers and Roundheads had a bit of a scrap. Also, we had the world's first passenger Railway in my home town, Catherine Zeta Jones was born here as was Karl Jenkins and Mal Pope. The oldest human remains were discovered here, the Red Lady of Paviland, thought to be 28,000 years old. Quite a few famous murders in this city, one reputedly being buried in a fly-over on the M4. Dylan Thomas was born here describing the place as an "ugly, lovely, town". Adelina Patti, the famous Italian Opera singer was also a resident here and has a pavilion name after her. Also a famous city resident was a Black Newfoundland Dog who earned the name of "Swansea Jack" as he was responsible for saving many people from drowning in the Docks. Other Notable people are, Keith Allen, Rob Brydon, Russel T Davies, Michael Hesseltine, Ian Hislop, Enzo Maccarinelli, Harry Secombe, Bonnie Tyler, and the Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams. Its a compition i think and the people involved take it deadly serious, I use it as an excuse to go out in town and have a few shandys.
