Simoman 110
would you rather be hit once with a hammer or 50 times with a stick......the hammer will knock you out and you will wake up 2 minutes later, the stick can cause damage thats permanent ! Have the rules changed recently Gnasher I agree with you Gnash that boxing is a much bigger sport but look at the time the sport has been established compared to MMA which is fairly new. I could be wrong, I frequently am but I think there has only been one death related to MMA and more to boxing although I don't know the numbers.
LDR 29
Boxing in this country is pretty much dead and buried!!!! If your not a fan of boxing mate thats fine.....but dont come out with a big sweeping statement like that without evidence to back it up,or is it just your view......when did the uk last have a year like its just had ?..3 world champions,2 of whom are top 10 pound for pound fighters......whole stables of good fighters in wales, london, sheffield etc....some good jocks.....khans a great prospect if you accept him as being british, along with a lot of other good young prospects....... whos our british hopes for world titles in mma ? michael bisping, who personally i dont think will win a world title anyway.......lets not get carried away....as a worldwide sport boxing and mma are still oceans apart...hence why when rampage jackson won the title he got 250 thousand dollars and when floyd mayweather defended against hatton he got about 12 million ! As for 4 oz gloves and having pillows on the end of your arms ......would you rather be hit once with a hammer or 50 times with a stick......the hammer will knock you out and you will wake up 2 minutes later, the stick can cause damage thats permanent !.........look at the statistics of fight related deaths/injuries. Depends how big the stick is!!!!!
Coney 3
I must admit I like boxing but I'm a much bigger MMA fan. Boxing has lost some of the characters who could talk the talk and walk the walk. With MMA I like the skill involved of utilising various arts and techniques against different opponents, Jui Jitsu, wrestling, boxing, submissions etc. The fighters from 10 years ago have become almost obsolete and many of yesterdays "top guys" have been beaten by new talent. I'm a huge Randy Couture fan and he has developed within the sport and hopefully one day he will fight Fedor. I think the sport is growing and will become more popular. As for Kimbo I think he will lose badly against the elite fighters JMO.

Simoman 110
This is my favourite MMA match, there is nothing technical but its 15 minutes of stand up between Stephan Bonner & Forrest Griffin showing boths guys have tons of heart, cardio and good chins.............. Round 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w6k1-8-j8Ac...feature=related Round 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R2WJIlOopZA...feature=related Round 3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4sDHpR4XkNg...feature=related

gnasher16 30,470
They are worlds apart in a monetary sense, but MMA hasnt been spoiled by money (yet) , boxing has, period. As two disciplines, mma will beat boxing hands down. The ufc was started just to see which discipline was the best and its been proven that to be trained in multiple martial arts is of benefit. ps i dont think bisping will get past anderson silva either. He has got to be, pound for pound, the hardest man on the planet. MMA hasnt been spoilt by money ????....the whole sport is different to what it started out as BECAUSE of money !....the ufc brought in new rules to be accepted by tv...if thats not a sport being spoiled by money i dont know what is......as 2 disciplines mma will beat boxing hands down ? what does that mean ? beat it how .........ufc/mma is barely recognisable to the sport it started off as a mere 15 years ago......i listened to an old interview on sky a while back with ken shamrock talking about how excited he was at the prospect of having a real fight in a cage and getting paid for it.....he then went on to explain how the whole sport changed for tv revenue/money/being socially acceptable....and how if they hadnt of brought in all the new rules no money would have been made......pretty much self explanatory really. LDR 29
Sorry lads but i've yet to see a fighter in this format impress, they do non of the individual disciplines well and all make infantile mistakes that they get away with because of what looks to be weak coaching. The groundwork is poor...the Iranians would give them a ten break...the hand-work is worse...they repeat single punches in a nut-nut fashion and move back in a straight line . None can use a forearm to the kite to any sort of effect (back in the ''s a specific division of Thai fighters (the green mob) had 1 a month dieing from this move)....unless walking away complaining that it hurt counts. Thier all too square on and gagging for a stamp kick....roundhouse to the head is suicidal on any sort of opponent with half a clue. It's worth noteing that that when matched in a square ring the fight highlighted would'nt have reached half-time. If what you say about a square ring is true, then why is it that now the pride boys are coming into the octagon they aint doing too well??? you cant really, like you said somewhere earlier, think that we as a country are turning out good fighters, thats just laughable!!!!! LDR 29
I know what mixed martial artist really think in private LR, seen plenty of them seriouslly hurt after becoming drunk on thier fighting prowess...a couple of very famous one's spring to mind. Not sure who the Pride boys are but i hear Beckham ain't setting Galaxy alight either. It's only my opinion of course but worth remembering that some folk like to eat McDonalds... . Whats weong with old ronalds cuisine........ ......... the pride fighters that are now moving into the ufc, wanderlei, shogun etc...... what do they think in private??? I reckon beckham should step in the octagon, the guys a true warrior.......
moss 70
for me it,s got to be mma the dedication and work you have to put in is unreal its your life, you have always got to be thinking and one step ahead its not just a case of keep your chin down, there have been some great charactures over the years i followed it from the very early stages of its life with some class fighters light royce gracie and marcus rueas. i,m number one fan of andrie arlovski some top fights this boy has had. 5 of us train in mma in our own gym and 2 of our guys went and spent 2 weeks training with randy courture and said it was money well spent top guy and very knollagable, but at the end of the day like all good fighters a gentleman
