LDR 29
Who in your opinion are the more skilled and harder fighters, the MMA boys or the boxers?? For me its gotta be MMA, tiny little gloves, no 10 second count, get rocked and you're in serious f*****g trouble, 2 elbows, fists, knees, feet, an arsenal of chokes locks etc, boxing boys would get f*****g murdered in an octagon!!!! LDR 29
I just struggle now to find any boxers that really do it for me, tyson was a different kind of beast!!!! The UFC and other MMA organisations i think is where its at, in another 10 or 20 years its gonna be huge!!!! If i was younger thats what i'd be looking to get into!!!! Rhodey 96
The people in UFC are as hard as f**k, and talented at what they do. But so are boxers. If you were to put a UFC in a boxing ring he would be beaten and the same for a boxer in the UFC ring. There all just good a what they do.
andyfoster10 0
i would agree with ye on that rhodey
gnasher16 30,217
As much respect and interest as i have in mma...for me it still doesnt compare to boxing and probably never will.....the thing is at the moment is that mma is fashionable thats all......but lets not forget what it started out as....look at the early ufc,s......ok there wasnt too much talent on display but it was what it said on the tin...." a fight ".....now its no more a fight than any other martial art.....the ufc brought in so many rules in order to fit in with what society wasnt prepared to put up with.....that money became more important than the original make up of the sport....ok its huge now,but when you change the rules of a sport for financial purposes you cheapen the sport in my opinion. Boxing is now what it was 100 years ago...a few alterations for safety measures....but i dont think mma will ever have the traditions or following....or even money that boxing has......as for injuries......mma is a far safer sport,as anyone who has ever been on the inside looking out rather than the outside looking in knows......its not the knockout blow that does the damage its the culmination of blows in a distance fight that does the permanant damage.... Theres too much razzamataz and bullshit talk now in mma....fighters and promoters are all trying too hard to sell the sport,to the point where it just becomes laughable.....for me its boxing all the way as a pure sport, although for sure mma is exciting. I know what you mean about the early stuff, but then it was just people like tank abbot who thought they were hard, they soon get shown up when they go against skillful fighters!!! I totally agree that MMA is a safer than boxing, its either we just aint producing any decent boxers, or they just aint getting any exposure, so therefore we never get to see them!!! MMA is still riddled with chancers who think that cos they've had a few rucks down the town, that makes them a bit tasty, but in reality these boys will never make it on the big stage, and prob just walk around telling anyone that'll listen they are a cage fighter... i think that MMA will continue to grow, but without doubt is far more entertaining to watch than any boxer about at the min....kimbo slice will be interesting to see if he lasts!!!!! Cupid Stunt 18
kimbo slice will be interesting to see if he lasts!!!!! Judging him on his last fight against James Thompson i can't see him lasting too long against half decent opposition. Saying that him being one of Elite XC' crowd pullers i'm sure he will be looked after. Anyone interested in MMA & hasn't seen this programme its well worth a look. http://natgeochannel.co.uk/Programmes/Cust...ain.aspx?Id=

ALSO THE AMOUNT OF THE FECKERS THAT ARE CHINNY IS UNBELIVEABLE DUCKWING I reckon you'll find most people 'chinny' if they take a shot with 4oz gloves, instead of having pillows wrapped round the end of your arms!!! there have been a few boys from professional boxing backgrounds turn up in the ufc and unsurprisingly they dont fair too well under different rules!!!! look across to the prince naseem post and there aint much hope with alot of people wanting to see nasseem smashed again and khan destroyed too, khan is the best we have to offer and people wanna see him battered!!! Boxing in this country is pretty much dead and buried!!!!
