tag along on fox digging

You lot make it sound like we should all be thrown in jail for working terriers!! Not sure what you guys get upto when your out but your not painting it in a good light.I would be reluctant to take a stranger out but simply because good permission is hard to get and you dont want to risk someone going back and spoiling it for you.

i've seen enough genuine clean hunting in the media to realise that if the buggers want to make something look wrong or cruel they seem to have a canny knack of doing so... some lad following you around with a button camera and gettin in on the action at the point of kill can make a humane and quick kill look bloody awful... music, slow motion and sound effects can work all sorts of black magic

You make a good point here.

The L.A.C.S and all their supporters are masters at this and are very manipulative.

Look what happened to the Crawley and Horsham!

W Armstrong!

I will carry on regardless and just be very careful.

I hope that this young lad does get the opportunity though. I know where he’s at. I have been there.

If I could offer him one piece of advice it would be to speak to an old timer who’s hunted with packs all his life, he will explain decent hunting ethics, hound breeds, terrier breeds, true lines decent well respected lines that go way back. The book by Sir Jocelyn Lucas called Hunt and working terriers is a good book. Has lots of info on entering to fox and other quarry.

If you can follow hunts get your self noticed and trusted the rest may fall in place for you mate, but you have to remember things are a shite load different these day's!

This is something I was told by an old guy once and never forgot it:

Killing for killing sake is for thug's who understand not the traditions of what he’s doing, has no respect for it or his faithful tools he use's to carry it out, and mindless disregard for your quarry will land you in trouble me lad!

I have a lot of respect for the old guy's.
