Guest SHOT
This is true and is a bit like asking a dog fighting gang to let you in for a flutter it isn't going to happen. Well not just like that anyway. Good luck you will need it. what a stupid thing to say absolute rubbish, "pic" on my spelling will you seriously.... a poor analogy used there Quote Link to post
Brummy 9
Couldn't agree more shot. What a stupid fcuking comment to come out with. On a public forum as well ! Does give totaly the wrong impression symon of what terrierwork is all about......it pays to think before you post Ok Friend then think on this level!! It may have been an extreme reference to use but you need to look at the over all picture! Brummy, I don’t claim to be Billy Big Bollocks, and if you think that about what I am saying here after reading it for what it is, then you are the one who’s pathetic! and most definately brainless. I am not saying that dog fights and terrier work are linked in any way shape or form. It’s about as linked to working terrier’s as Billy Big Bollocks is!! I was just using that wrongly or rightly as an example. Ok I admit it was slightly over the top, so for those that don’t have the mental capacity to see beyond the words I will put it another way. In this day and age many of us are constantly worried about our passionate sports that we all know and love being wrongfully corrupted and opened up for all do gooders to see. We should all be very cautious when being asked by a complete stranger to tag along on a dig! This is just common sense in my view and in many others too. After all they banned Fox hunting yes or no!! and god knows the fox is none the better for it. Try watching lay of the land. There are some very crafty underhanded people that will go to any lengths to expose those who enjoy working with dogs; it’s sad but very true. Anti’s/ Grassers/ or general hooligans call them what you will they are real and do exist as much as we would all like to brush this under the carpet it exists. I am not implying here that the young lad is anything other than a genuine keen young chap who would just like to experience his passion. I wish him well and I hope that someone does give him a chance but it will not be easy and for good reason. Like sniper posted too many folk I know have been shafted by taking in a newcomer...........some of these super grasses have even been hands-on................................ mentioning no names Sad state of affairs I know.................... Slip wrote; the way the law is now mate or i mean the way people fuckd up the hole lot you will b hard pushed. Understand where I am coming from!! Edited June 21, 2008 by Symon Quote Link to post
Guest oldskool
i for one think your not far off the mark mate, to be honest!! these "undercover" folk use the same tactics whether it be dog fighting, badger digging or fox hunting... it wont be long till rat hunting will get a touch if they havent already... i had nobody to take me out digging but i learned by myself and i'm still learning... now i prefer my own company although digging is a bit pants on your own, especially if your like me and built like a weed Quote Link to post

I wish this wasn't so but it is. I have struggled myself to be treated with trust and acceptance but over the last 15 years and with lots of perseverance I am fortunate enough to enjoy my passion to the full. Although never completely relaxed at least the small group of people I know can all feel safe that it won’t be anyone close to us to stitch us up!! We are all close friends not just in our sport but socially as well, what you might call a tight ship. Quote Link to post
Guest gaz100604
i agree its hard to break into it but might get lucky if you know a friend who knows a friend . people are parnoid and rightly so it would have to be one complete moron to take a stranger digging. i remember my uncles being ulta parniod digging foxes that was in eire 15 years ago when it was legal. i wish this lad well , if you do get someone to take you out ask for his car keys his bank pin code as well no doubt hel give it to you lol. seriously though good luck. waz77 15
You lot make it sound like we should all be thrown in jail for working terriers!! Not sure what you guys get upto when your out but your not painting it in a good light.I would be reluctant to take a stranger out but simply because good permission is hard to get and you dont want to risk someone going back and spoiling it for you.
