droid 11
well done on your catch mate.i remmember the days when sitting for carp a very addictive sport. even so you catch one your always wanting the next one bigger. anyway all i will say is i used to fish some cracking lakes with 30lb+ fish in my biggest landed at 26lb.of which has been my biggest carp to date . anyway i used to sit their and watch all the guys with all the top of the range this top off the range that, and nine times out of ten its all show it dosnt catch fish. i used to use one rod one real never once used a bite alarm. or you would sit and fall asleep.i used to sit watch the water watch where the fish were passing threw and different routes they take everyday to pick their food.and learn their habbits .as for my tackle i had some nice size hooks between 10/14 some bombs a few carp cotroller floats a disgorger. a cracking rod with a bounce to it. a cheep real so nothing amazing and all important a nice comfy seat a brolly and a nice flask off tea. as for bait that never went past bread has to be warbatons they love it. sweetcorn. lunchen meat. and dog biscuits. a good club that has good stock is a good starting point too anyway bread and lunchen meat bottom fishing dog biscuits floating on top first thing i look for in a good lake is if their taking them off top if so yur in for a good day and a nice way to catch them. anyway it can be done cheep back to basics it did it for me for a good 20 years unless your going out for a days sunshine and a pose with your tackle lol anyway all the best mate and keep them lines tight Best post on carp fishing I've ever read. merle24 61
Well done on bagging your first carp mate, it seems like youve got the carp bug good and propper The best advice i can give you as regards fishing gear is to try and find someone who is getting rid of a full carp setup, you will get eveything you need it will save you the time and hassel of buying individual iteams and it is deffinetly the cheapest and quickest option to get you started, try this site you will have to register its free, and look under the for sale section, http://www.northwestcarp.co.uk/forums/ Also dont start out on a difficult low stocked venue as this will frustrate and may dishaearten you before you get going. Try to fish easy high stocked waters dayticket waters are normally highly stocked and will soon see you bagging a few carp, this will build youre confidence and get you into the swing of things. As far as bait goes you can catch carp on all manor of baits as already stated, but to catch carp on a regular basis from the same place a good quality boilie will stand you in good sted and bring you instant and longterm results when you apply it regular in certain spots, frezeer bait are far better option to readymade shelflife baits due to the fresher active ingredients, readymades will still catch you fish but if you want good results get on a good rolled freezer bait as years go by you will see the difference for yourself. There is loads of books out there on carp fishing some are very good but are more aimed at the experianced carp angler and there will be alot of thing in there that will confuse the newbie carp angler, i would advise you to get a monthly magazine, theres lots of tips and advice in there that you will find helpfull as youre getting into the sport, i would recomend advanced carp fishing, or crafty carper, thats if you aint reading them already I hope this helps mate, good luck and tight lines.
