Hob&Jill 258
Just had an good idea, well I think it is lol. I was thinking it would be good to put together a list of wild plants, berries and fruits etc that can be collected thoughout the year. When to expect them and where to find them etc. Even what you eat them with if you like. Sloes, Wild Garlic, Nettles, Mushrooms, Blackberrys etc etc.... I wish I new more about wild foods but cant really find any guides on the internet on what to look for at different times of the year. Hopefully a few more knowledgeable people on here could help. Something like a Picture of what to look for? When to find it? Where to find it? How you like to use it? Not sure if it will work but worth a go, HJ

Simoman 110
If you want a good book on foraging and food from the countryside get a book by Richard Mabley called Food for Free. Richard was Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstalls advisor for the series Cook on the wild side...............
BlueCoyote 0
check out a military survival guide. i have one and its damned handy to have around lol covers nearly all regions too i believe. but yes there should be something online that you shouldnt have to pay for.... maybe create a sticky thread with a picture of the plant/berries you are talking about plus any other information. we have wild blue berries ALL OVER my property.... but we only recently found out what they were. if i had known that two years ago when we moved here i would have made better use of them instead of letting the birds eat them (and the dogs. they love them)
