Guest Dave
I have not blued a gun for years but the key to it is the preperation stages, ensure that you have it compleatly degreased. Triclorathene is the best thing for it but You cant get it any more because it fucks the ozone layer. A good degreasing agent should do the job. Dave Quote Link to post
Guest baldie
Personally mate, i wouldnt bother with cold blue at all, its streaky, it stinks [permanently], and you will have to keep it smothered in oil permanently, to stop it rusting. Surely its only the barrel thats gone rusty on a rapid? i,d whip the barrel off, and have it proffesionally reblued, it wouldnt cost more than 30 quid i would say.If you do decide to cold blue, it must be polished to a mirror finish, and de greased thoroughly as Dave says, the product to use, is "panelwipe" available from any dealer who sells automotive paints. If the rust isn't to established couldn't he just use some Youngs 303 and some fine wire wool? Should lift it right off without too much hassle? Quote Link to post
