easier to put both these questions on the same topic<easier for me that is,lol,first off,having done sea fishing for 15 years serious there 2 fish that i still not caught,1 of them is a mullet,the other is a garfish,what i am looking for is a spot within 2 hour drive of newport where anyone has good catches on either mullet or garfish,second question is does anyone have any idea of anyone who can service reels besides the manufacturers,2 reels both being penns,the 1 reel is a penn mag power 970,picked it up out of a boot sale,problem with the mag is that if you try and cast it the line ill not come off easily,you can pull it by hand ,example,put a size 8 gemini on it,flick the spool so it ready to cast,and just the weight of the gemini alone if picked up will not pull line of the reel,you can pull it by hand but otherwise no good,the other reel is a penn 535,my fault with this one,i took the 2 sides off to give it a clean,after putting it back together it will not engage the spool when i wind,only choice i got is to send it back to penn so am hoping that some one knows of a individual who services reels or repairs them,tight lines,i will get a photo up of the 2 reels

anywhere where you catch mackerel will give garfish,there rarer than theyused to be.

I've had gars from Saundersfoot in the past, can't remember the name of the mark but go onto the beach and walk to the right for about 3/4 mile to the big set of rocks that run into the sea, had them fishing the tide up on mackerel feathers with a wedge on the bottom instead of a weight looking for the bass. Also seen them when spearfishing at caerfai bay near st davids. They have sharp teeth that will cut the line (they see it and slash at it) so go heavier than normal.
