shell 42
I suppose I'm a newby to working dogs etc. I was born in 1980... always had a dog at home when I was growing up... a mongrel called Nushka (we're Ukrainian), who I'll never forget, lived to be 16! The dog that was always there! And then a white collie with a black head called Bilka (which means white), which once chased a rabbit!!! My grandad used to tell tales of rearing rabbits in the back garden purely for the pot in Ukraine, then also in Manchester when they came here in the 50's. I got involved in field sports when I met my hubby in 1997. So still got a hell of a lot to learn compared to some folk on here! Met malc, didn't do so well with my A Levels due to partying with him, ended up getting a job with the local council, still there now! Have a little girl who is 3 and loves being outside... Malcs mini me!!! Only tonight we had tears and tantrums cos we couldn't go for a walk with dad until she'd had a bath. Malc had a couple of Borders and his old lurcher when we met. We've furthered the line of Borders, and we still have it today. I've spent a few years in hunt service with malc, and although it's probably every terriermans dream... we left a few months ago because of various reasons... wage, condition of house - it was grim!!! nipper being poorly all winter, and no money in the hunts pot to do anything about it! So we left, and came home. What else... currently live in suburbia, ferret hutches on the drive, chickens in the back garden, 5 dogs in the house! 3 year old obsessed with the dogs and foxes and rabbits !!! Not a lot I'd change... not got much money, enough to get by and feed/clothe us all... but we're all happy and fit. Can't complain really! Shell
