you'll have more sport shooting on sight.

they spend more time on the ground than you think!!

a keen eye and quiet feet will bring you success.

and if their fidgeting about........make a squeking noise (by sucking in through you lips) and they will stop and look......just long enough for you to line up your crosshairs!!

if its proving difficult.............try a hide and /or a feeder............but it will soon become boring.

an ideal oppurtunity to brush up on some essential feildcraft skills!!!!

good luck dan

Have a look around first;

(You hear it all the time but I think it is still relevant) You will see which routes they travel.

You will also get to know the noise of a squirell taking nuts from a tree very quickly

How big is the site?

Has it been shot before?

They are shootable on the ground, but you need to be sat, or approach quietly.

(Sean is right "keen eye & quiet foot")

Squzzers are a challenge to hunt; if you have a "partner" it can help greatly as they will run up the tree on the side you can't see; with two you can try to engineer it.

(If you need to bait get some fat balls)

with a park mate i should imagine the shooting going to be quite easy, should be well tame, first thing in the morning will give you good results or just after 5 in the afternoon at this time of the year, how will the park work it for you mate, are they going to shut the park on the days you cull the squirrels?

Good luck. Nice to see that the land managers, in this country park, recognise the services of vermin control. It's a testament to our skills and professionalism that they employ us to conduct these pest control services. ;)

:D

Fat balls are usually put out by well meaning householders, as winter food for birds. Also very prevalent in the number of rat call outs I had from 2005 to last winter.

They attract birds and also rodents.
