Sean, due to their large numbers, urban foxes are carriers of mange, amongst other things. I shifted a couple recently out of a mates back garden. There was fox shit all over the place, food debris, stench and damage to his boundaries and garden and with his two little kids wanting to play on the lawn etc, it was obvious that they'd have to go...and go they did! Full of mange they were.

thanks fellas....................excuse my ignorence on this subject........but i have no experience of them in towns.

very interesting points...................cheers

I'm sure they kill rats and stuff which is all well and good but banged one one night that had killed a kitten and ran straight up the beam with it in its mouth

Where I live there are alot of urban foxes and they cause very little trouble at all. All the rubbish is now in wheelie bins which are are prettty much fox proof so the problem they did cause ripping open black bin bags is a thing of the past. Most of the food they get is either left out deliberately for them or left out to feed the birds. Also there are alot of urban green areas such as allotments and old industrial land that is alive with more typical fox food such as mice, voles and rabbits (locally to me there is also railway land with roe and pheasants).

I've seen plenty of urban foxes and I've yet to see a mangey one yet. Not saying they don't get it, just that hereabouts they are clear at the moment. All in all they do very well in towns and compared to the countryside are very much tolerated.
