in pain

went out for a shoot this evening got 8 rabbits soz lads no photos today, but that wasn't the pain, the pain was midgies, anyone got any advice on getting away from midgies.

 

i was laid in wait near a warren for about 10 mins when the rabbit popped out, i was getting swarmed by hundreds of the little feckers trying to take the shot and trying to get them off my face was murder, but managed to get a head shot on the rabbit but had to move from my spot, just got settles down waiting then they came again i was itching all over couldn't manage anymore shooting they got the better of me, we got 8 rabbits in total but could have got more if we stay.

 

so can any of you out there help me with this problem i don't want to try sprays as the rabbits will smell me coming from a mile off.

 

any advice would be very greatful

Always hunt with the wind in your face, use sprays, and chain-smoke fags.

Get yerself a face nett of some description, there are plenty out there to choose from.

We have highland midge patches here, use em like stop smoking patches, they put something in ya blood and last 12 hours, bit pricey but worth it if ya dont like midges.

dont laugh !!!!!!!!!!!..............but the MOD supply AVON skin moisturiser to the troops to stop midges..............a lot of people swear by it.

 

do a search in the general talk section...........there was a recent topic in there....same subject.

 

if it dosn't work...........you'll smell nice and have skin like a babies bum !!!!!

Nice one Sean, I couldn't think of it off hand but a lot of people here swear by the same stuff too, I have never tried it so can't say if it works, but plenty here say it does and like I say I just wait till its windy before I go out on the peats

If you're not sensitive to it, use a deet repelant. Test a little bit of deet 100 on your skin, if it's fine for a couple of hours, I'd get some. Fantastic stuff.
