Do Rabbits live in Canada?

Recommended Posts

Hello!

On a recent trip to Toronto, Canada I noticed what I would have said to be prime rabbit ground.

It had grazing a plenty seemed soft enough to dig burrows as long as the CN tower!

So is the reason for me not seeing a rabbit down to the fact that it gets to cold and snowed in for too much of the year? Or is it teeming and I’m blind!!

Thanks everyone.

In the city of Richmond Vancouver B.C. there are prime rabbit hunting fields making a mess of some of the local vegetables and blueberrys etc. You can see them just off the Steveston Highway on the fields that lead up to the Fraser delta. Its way more fun lamping coyotes though with a big pit cross :secret:

So they have loads of rabbits.

but no one hunts them!

Massive carp in almost every puddle or pond you look in,

But no one fishes for'em!

So in the words of S.L.Jackson in pulp fiction " I'm fu**ing going that's all there is to it I'm fu**ing going!"

Thanks guys any one that does lamp or carp fish in toronto please put a thred up or pm me cheers every one!

I'm a Toronto girl born and bred

Loads of folks fish for carp but not in the city, and I haven't ever heard of anyone lamping/hunting with dogs there. Matter of fact you'd probably get lynched by the Fluffy Brigade for even discussing it, never mind doing it.

Why oh why would you want to fish in the city anyway :icon_eek: There isn't a pond or puddle that isn't completely polluted. The Humber River is heaving with all sorts of three eyed critters. Even the pidgeons shit toxic stuff. Did you not notice the piss yellow cloud of pollution hanging over the place? It stretches from Peterborough all the way through to Oakville (east to west). From Lake Ontario till well north of Finch Ave.

I love my city, proud to be a Toronto girl, but it's no place for nature lovers  Now, drive north of Barrie, east past Peterborough, West past Oakville and you'll find loads of lovely places. Matter of fact some of the best countryside to be found is north of Toronto. The city itself is clogged with over 4 million people, 24 hours a day traffic .... I'm glad I grew up there. I'm streetwise and not too many things scare me. But I will never ever live there again.

Did you see any racoons while you were there? Big buggers they are. Lots of good hunting in Canada but it's an altogether different experience to here.

wow peterborough over here has the same problem but most of the pollution lives in it :)

So if you Toronto girl were to advise me on a nice hunting and fishing spot as near to the city of Toronto as you would dare live, in fear of both pollution and bunny huggers.

Where would it be?(So I can look the town up cheers.)

How close do you need to be to the city? The further north you go the better it is. Are you thinking of moving there?

Try having a look at Barrie, it's not too far but just far enough. Although it's a rapidly growing place. It's like the gateway to the northern part of Ontario, so hunting wouldn't be too far away. But again I've never heard of anyone hunting rabbit there, so haven't a clue what the law is or anything.

If you're happy to go further from Toronto then Ontario is your oyster, so to speak. Perry Sound is FAB, lots of forest, lakes, great fishing etc. I've had some excellent times up there.

Um, have you been over there in the winter yet? I would suggest you think about that before you up sticks. Unless you're happy with -45 in the wind chill for 5 months.

You can hunt all canadian legal wildlife with a bow LG,its always been my wet-dream to take a bear with a bow :icon_eek:

Too much information Mackem  The only bears I've seen were scavenging round dumps or sniffing at the tent zips in the middle of the night :icon_eek: I'd be disinclined to hunt one but that's just my personal preference.

Twould be a real challenge (for me) to take a deer with a bow - that I would LOVE to try.

Well I have to confess, when I was living in Toronto I was a member of the Fluffy Brigade  Times change tho .... my perception of a lot of things has changed over the last few years. My brother has a cottage up North, loads of wild turkey, deer etc round abouts there. Perhaps it's time for a trip home :whistling:

ETA: I wasn't right wing fluffy! After all, we did have a wolf cross who hunted for herself. But hunting in general was something I wasn't really exposed to, growing up in the city as I did. Nobody panic: I'm not an anti
