Guest The Hob
Could anyone tell me why my 4 yr old polecat jill won't have kits. I breed her 2 yrs ago with my polecat hob, she did have a litter (dont no how many) but she must have ate them cos 2 days l8r I could not hear any in the hutch. I bred her again last year but she never had any, she l8r came back into season but I didnt try 2 breed her again. Im looking 2 breed her again this year but not sure whether to get another jill to breed from. I know my 2 hobs are ok because friends of mine have had plenty of kits from their jills after being put with my hobs. Can anyone tell me why? Quote Link to post
gnipper 6,412
Are you keeping her in with the hobs? Might be a crap mother and/or the last time you bred her the hob might have fired a blank. Quote Link to post

doddsy1970 9
There can be so many factors as to why a ferret isnt birthing food is a major one but so are things like disturbance, temperature and the obvious ones like a sterile hob and or a sterile jill its just a case of elimination. Trying a new hob would be my first line of action. Quote Link to post
devvo 0
i keep my oldest jill separate from my younger jill and hob. the younger jill and hob r brother n sister, when it comes 2 breeding time should i take the hob out and put it in with my oldest jill or take the young jill out and out her in the oldest jills cage????
