Does anyone own these? What are they like to use for lurcher work? My partner is interested in owning one and we have done alot of researching on the net and they look like they could be handy. Any info would be appreciated.

If you search you will find threads that have been done before. I have worked with a few and they are high drive, always on the go and a little "sharp". Definately not a breed for a beginner.

Thanks for the replies, i think it would be a handy dog to try out and produce some cracking lurchers. We are certainly no 'beginners' in the dog world.

I wasn't impying you were beginners, I know nothing about you But I think their are a lot of good crosses that will be easier to find. Many malis are hyper and not all that enjoyable to be around unless that brain and body is excercised a lot. I also have first hand experience of how "sharp" some of the imports can be

We don't want an easier x. This is the dog we have chosen and we are researching it well. They suit our lifestyle as we do alot of activities with our dogs. But thankyou for the advice.

We don't want one yet and when we do get one, it will be no older than 10 weeks old.

I'm looking at breeding my bitch Slag to one, thought I'd made up my mind that it was the cross I wanted but I have more thinking to do based on some of the comments made by some people I know and trust. They are such an "always on" type of dog, so drivey, so so so much, it isn't a cross to decide on lightly.

i've got a mate who got some pups due next week out of my dog and a coursing bred greyhound bitch.

This will be the 2nd time i've mated a grey bitch , the 1st litter all made really good dogs , very very athletic and hard dogs really good at the larger stuff.
